Bento: Day 1

People seemed to enjoy the food porn the other day so here's my first effort at Bento. Today is a late day for me though, we'll see how it goes when I have to be out of the house at 4:45!

In the left container is an onigiri (rice ball), broccoli, grape tomatoes, and grapes. In the left is a piece of vegetable frittata, chicken teryaki, sesame ginger carrots, broccoli and a few more grape tomatoes. Up against the divider are a couple of packets of soy sauce. It fits in my lunch bag and I'm also taking a small container of yoghurt, and a banana for breakfast and I keep a packet of hobnobs in my desk so I'll have one of those for a snack.

Maybe you should consider a job as a personal chef?

All the great colors sure show how heathy this is.

Mmmm. When I win the lottery, I'm hiring you to be my personal chef. :D

The rice sorta looks like it is laying in bed, with broccoli pillows and grape and tomato covers.

These dishes look amazing. I love the color combinations and they look so appetizing!

Lordy, lordy. If I'm going out the door at 4:45 a.m., I want to be on my way to a plane taking me to the Loire Valley or Carmel or Sydney, not work.

Just sayin'. FanSee

I never realized it but I'm Bentoing in my Glad containers!

And damn that food looks good!

So pretty! Do you use a fritatta pan? A friend got one for christmas, and I was surprised at how expensive it was. And about the directions for preparing one. I always thought they were just cooked in an open oven-proof skillet or pie plate. Basically, a thicker quiche minus the crust.

That looks healthy and delicious!

May I ask how you prepare the sesame ginger carrots? Just raw carrots, sesame oil and fresh or powderd ginger, or do you cook them?
