Bento: Day 1

People seemed to enjoy the food porn the other day so here's my first effort at Bento. Today is a late day for me though, we'll see how it goes when I have to be out of the house at 4:45!

In the left container is an onigiri (rice ball), broccoli, grape tomatoes, and grapes. In the left is a piece of vegetable frittata, chicken teryaki, sesame ginger carrots, broccoli and a few more grape tomatoes. Up against the divider are a couple of packets of soy sauce. It fits in my lunch bag and I'm also taking a small container of yoghurt, and a banana for breakfast and I keep a packet of hobnobs in my desk so I'll have one of those for a snack.

That looks healthy and delicious!

May I ask how you prepare the sesame ginger carrots? Just raw carrots, sesame oil and fresh or powderd ginger, or do you cook them?

May I ask how you prepare the sesame ginger carrots?

They are super easy -
Heat up some sesame oil, toss in some finely chopped or grated fresh ginger ans stir for a few seconds, add the carrots, stir fry until just underdone (about 4 minutes for the size I cut), add some soy sauce ( I used 2 tablespoons for four carrots) stir for a minute or so, add some red pepper flakes, stir again for a few seconds, add some sesame seeds, stir again for a few seconds and you're done. If you don't have fresh ginger just leave it out, they are just as good without it. Same with the hot peper if you don't like it.
