I have to let them know on Monday. The first figure they gave me was so lowball it was insane. They asked what I wanted. Well what I wanted was 13000 more than they offered, though to be honest I didn't actually expect to get that. What I was really hoping for was 8000 more than they offered, so that's the number I gave them. Answer 'Sorry, no.' OK, no problem, thank you anyway. Not five minutes later I get called back in and they made a new offer. This one was still lower than I wanted but higher than before. It was actually the lowest number I was willing to accept and is 5 more than I'm making now. They also offered a raise after six months if all goes well and some flexibility on the hours. So on Monday if I can get them to agree to a couple of other non-money related issues it looks as though I have a new job. August 1st is my two year anniversary there and I will have been promoted twice.
In unrelated news progress on the railroad has slowed slightly due to environmental concerns. Namely it's hotter than the hinges of hell out and the AC out there got fried by lightening. A replacement compressor is on the way.
The risers and track are being temporarily laid out to make sure the plan works in real life as well as it does on paper. Also to check to see if I need any more grade risers before I continue.

The railroad looks awesome - you are doing such a great job with it! *is jealous because I would end up missing several fingers and just have a few 2x4's sloppily nailed together* :-P

Good luck with the negotiations...and hold them to the six month raise. Flexible hours are always nice as well. I'm happy for you to have this opportunity.
