Do you ever sit down to read Changes (or any of my other fics for that matter) and think to yourself, WTF? Where did that come from? If so I'm not at all surprised. The thing is that when I sit down to write I very rarely have any idea what I'm going to do. Or even who is going to be the one writing that day's entry. I read over what's come before and then just start writing. I had one today come from so far out of left field that when I finished it it made me laugh. Not because it's funny (though I suppose an argument might be made for a bit of humour) but because it surprised me.

I probably should plan ahead more but I've found they come out stilted that way and not with the immediacy that a real letter or diary entry would have.

Also, yesterday [livejournal.com profile] entr0ki started reading Correspondence and commenting on it. It's been so long that it was like a trip down memory lane. I have no compunction in saying that Correspondence is my favoured child. I think the letters just work better than the diary entries. She must have read all day. The last comment was on Adventures last night. Talk about endurance.

That is the spontaneousness that makes the special charm of these epistolic fictions. The characters speak for themselves... And it's great discovering them, well at least Brian and Justin for me.
Keep on your good work

I find your entries original, spontaneous, in character and timely without being laden with angst. I find all three series great alternatives to other types of fanfic.

Nope. I never think WTF? Every entry makes perfect sense and follows along just seamlessly, IMO. Your Adventures was one of the first fics I found and I didn't bookmark it so spent about TWO WEEKS hunting obsessively for it and cussing myself the whole time (didn't know about LJ at the time), had nobody to ask... oh, it was a terrible time. However, I persevered and finally, literally, just happened on it and omg I was soooo happy. I just ate it UP! Then I found Correspondence and just didn't know how things could get any better. Mercifully, you continue to write for us and I, for one, am so grateful.

Totally off-point but two things: 1) LUGE!! aslkjudfhlakjhdf!!! there are some events scare the shit out of me and this is one. The other sled event that is performed stomach-down, head-first also worries me no end, and 2) a book rec for you if you're interested. "Firehouse" by David Halberstam. Just got it and am only about 5 pages in, so can't give a full recommendation. I like his books, though. This is about 9/11; 2 rigs from one firehouse near Lincoln Center go downtown with 13 firefighters - only one survives.

I don't think I could bear it.

Thanks so much!

Quinn: I don't think I could bear it.

I know; I'm a little afraid to read it; pages 1-5 are completely expository, so I'm safe yet awhile. Hell, I haven't seen BBM yet because of the severe weeper factor. I'll let you know how the book is.

The other event you are talking about is skeleton and it's nuts. They probably named it that because after you crash head first into one of those ice walls, that's probably all that's going to be left of you. =)

OMG - Skeleton?! Well, the name alone would keep me from trying it (like I need an excuse. lol). I mean, I know that an accident in any sport can cause porentially serious injury, but some just seem to scream out "these next seconds may be your last!" Makes you wonder what makes someone want to compete in some of these. And how you go about finding somewhere to do so.

not to mention how drunk you would have to be to think that hurtling down an ice slide head first was a good idea. yikes.

LOL! Yeah, kinda makes you think of the Darwin Awards, doesn't it? "Hey! Y'all watch THIS!!!" ;-)

I find that when I want to read something that will engage me completely but is not angsty and likely to make me in a worse mood than then one I'm trying to escape from, I read Correspondence. I still remember my happy dance in my desk chair when I realized that Brian had signed his letter Love Brian. *does Cabbage Patch in desk chair*

Not to mention your Sim updates every once and a while make me giggle like a 9 year old girl. =)

"I still remember my happy dance in my desk chair when I realized that Brian had signed his letter Love Brian."

OMG, me, too - I sooo remember that!! Such a thrill. Prior to reading that though I read Adventures and Brian makes a trip to the oncologist in London for a check-up and Justin is dithering and worrying and says how silly he feels for being all drama-y since it's not him personally going through this but, "I just love him so much." And then Brian comes along later and writes underneath that entry, "I love you, too....." Holy shit. For real, my heart did this little flip and I gasped and then I just smiled for about a day. (see, Quinn, we know your episodes as well as the tv ones! lol)

Please, keep the spontaneity - I just love to see what comes anew each day! I also like the positive nature of your work, there is so much B/J angst out there at the moment that I find the boys' total love in their daily lives refreshing and fulfilling.

As for entr0ki, I too read Correspodence and Adventures at one sitting! I think I made my comment at the end though, I was too enthralled to break free of the story :-)

I know when Correspondence started out with "Who the Fuck is Justin Taylor" we were in for a special ride. I really enjoy the different fonts and the different "stationery" of each entry of each stream.

Of course my ABSOLUTE favorite is wet Brian manips. Cannot get enough...LOL!

Nope, I log on and think, "I hope Quinn posted today."
