I went to see the King Tut exhibit today. It was fantastic. The objects were beyond beautiful and the exhibit itself was laid out perfectly. I didn't take any pictures as photographs are not permitted inside museums. Of course I took tons of pictures at WDW though. Maybe one of these days I'll even share one of me with Goofy. Not today though!

We stayed at All Stars Music. In the Country building.

That night we went over to MGM.

And saw Fantasmic/

The next morning was my big challenge. Riding Expedition Everest. I was ok until it went downhill, in the dark, backwards. At high speed. This is the big drop. I saw it for a few seconds. Mostly I had my eyes shut.

Others were screaming with excitement. I was shrieking in terror.

After that I sat down for a while until I stopped shaking. Then we went on the Safari and saw, among other things, elephants.

We also saw Festival of the Lion King, which was great.

Back to work tomorrow and I'm working Saturday to make up for having today off. I'm going to be exhausted by Sunday.

It's perfectly adequate. I would not stay there if I was going with my mother but for an overnight with a friend it wsa fine. Lots of kids and activity. The food situation is pretty bad, kind of like eating in the school cafeteria or your mall food court. Kids probably love it. The pools are very nice and I saw lots of happy children around. At night you could hear every time the people in the next room used the shower or flushed the toilet.

If you can step up to a moderate resort I'd do it. If not you'll have a good time at one of the All Stars. Pop Century is supposed to be the best of the value resorts but it's hard to get in there.

This is my favorite roller coaster on the planet... the first drop (pictured) is 310 feet... I don't advise that you try it, lol:

But I'm glad you made it through your first experience... I even still experience mild anxiety when I ride coasters, even though I'm a huge enthusiast.

Heh, that brings back memories. I went to Cedar Point with a bunch of people and I was the only one not too chickenshit to ride it. =)

Metal coaster, right? Looks like there's a wooden coaster in the background. FanSee

Yep! The one behind it and sort of to the left is called Mean Streak, and leaves every body in your bone rattling when you get off, lol... The one behind it and sort of to the right is called The Gemini (it's a racing coaster, hence the name), and looks wooden, but is actually a metal track in a wooden frame... If you like coasters and are ever in Ohio or Pennsylvania (where I'm originally from), I'd definitely recommend Cedar Point... It's right along the coast of Lake Erie, slightly east of Cleveland.

Not in a million years would I get on that thing.

Thanks for sharing those pics. They bring back great memories for me. I was there just 2 1/2 years ago. We're going for a shorter trip (4 days) in only three weeks. These pics have really spurred my excitement!

Whatever else you do make certain you ride Soarin at Epcot, it's so much fun.

Thanks for the rec. We checked it out on line and definitely will go there. It wasn't at WDW on our last visit. :D

Soarin' is great! We go to Disney every couple of months (since we're only 2 1/2 hours away) and we make sure to ride that and "Test Track", which is my son's other favorites!

As for hotels, I agree about the All Star hotels. Great for 1 night but not more. Check out Coronado Springs -- it's really nice and quiet, and only a step up in price.

We loved Coronado Springs when we stayed there and we're staying there again in April.

We're going to WDW in March. They have a special Passholder's Suite for a spring training baseball game between the Braves and the Mets (we're New Yorkers originally) at the Wide World of Sports. My son is so excited! You sit in the a luxury box, enjoy a huge buffet and watch a game, and then go to the parks after! I'm going to see if I can get a room at the Coronado. Have to see what Florida Resident specials they have going!

They've got the baby out in the elephant exhibit now...:) I wondered when they'd put him out, he's about 8 months old now I think. Isn't that FOTLK great? I've seen it a couple of times and thought it was wonderful.

LOL..on those EE pics. The last time I was in the park, all of the framework and some of the plasterwork was done but just the little I saw of the track was enough to give me the heebie jeebies.

We saw three babies! It was grerat, we saw this one and another about his age and then a third one who was very tiny, younger than this one, so that's probably the one you're thinking of.

My problem with EE is that I didn't see enough of the track to give me the heebie jeebies! I don't mind height and I don't mind speed, it was the pressure you felt going around the curves at speed that got to me.

I LOVE the rollercoaster! Back in the days when I worked in an ad agency in Chicago we did an ad that required a day of filming in an amusement park. I charmed the producer and got to be an extra. The day consisted of several things like walking around with balloons, getting off rides with big smiles on our faces and other amusement park stuff. The best part was riding the coaster 'Shockwave' 12 times in under an hour. This coaster has 7 loops. That’s 84 loops. I was the ONLY one who wanted to ride it again when they were done shooting. ::pouts:: This particular park puts the cars on their wooden double racer backwards a few times a year. I've not been able to get through one ride backwards without being in a hysterical state of laughter. I’ll have to see if Disneyland has this Everest ride. It’s sounds like heaven!!!

Did you buy anything in the Tut gift shop – perhaps a Tut Pop? It was amazing wasn’t it? Did they do the intro in the dark room with the sudden lighting of the torso? Scared the b’jsus out of me!

lol, no, they had the monitors over a curained doorway and when it was done they drew back the curtains to reveal the sculpture. I was really good about buying, I got a pencil, a bookmark and a few portcards. But then we finished lunch early and had to wait in the gift shop (it's in the lobby) for a while. I ended up with a pair of earrings too.

Was this the Tut exhibit at the Museum of Art in Ft. Lauderdale? I went to that last weekend and didn't think it was that great -- too much stuff from Tut's family and not enough from him. Plus very crowded and hard to see anything up close.

That's the one. I liked it for the reason you didn't. I liked seeing stuff from other people, especially the sort of small pieces. But I was lucky that I went on a weekday and it was crowded but not so crowded that you didn't get time in front of everything.
