This is insanely long and probably boring

First, I am sure most if not all of you are aware that Adam got into a scuffle with a pap on Miami Beach the day before the show. In case you missed the actual story of what went down here it is:
He and his friends (band, dancers, bus driver) were hanging out on the beach trying to eat and have a few drinks. Paps showed up and Adam cooperated, smiling etc. but after an hour he'd had enough and they refused to leave him alone. He decided to leave the beach. They were still all over him and one of them made some sort of remark which he refuses to repeat but which sent Adam over the edge. he said he was already upset at that point so whatever the guy said it was the last straw. Adam has a reputation for being super patient, easy going and very sweet. Press tends to love him so this was really not typical of him to snap. Anyway it was basically just some shoving around. Adam says he wasn't trying to actually hurt the guy and the pics bear that out. Police declined to press charges. Oh and the pap said on the police report that Adam was trying to get his camera out of his backpack, clearly in the pictures it is in his hand, not a backpack) and that Adam shoved him to the ground, also clearly didn't happen according to the photos. You can see Adam trying to cooperate here but Tommy is already Not Amused.

Oh and in here

Ok, on to my recap (part one)

Friday -
Had breakfast around 7am (this will come into play later on), finished packing (way too much) and then lazed around the house for a bit. I stopped at my office on the way out of town to follow up on something and was on I95 heading north by early afternoon. It was a short, easy drive of about 75 minutes to Melbourne. Got to the lovely Day's Inn and while they had my reservation they had no record of me having paid for it. I didn't have my receipt with me and didn't feel like fighting with them so paid for the room again. They then handed me a little white gift bag of vending machine type snacks because I am apparently a member of some sort of points program. No idea how or what as I'd never stayed in a Days Inn before (and never will again.)

I went to the room which was dreadful on nearly all levels. Power in most of the few sockets didn't work and the sockets themselves were loose in the walls. Hair dryer didn't work, which I discovered after I got out of the shower so I met Adam with bad hair. It was right about this time that I gave myself a stern talking to to stop whining. So, speeding up a bit I got glammed up, checked the parking pass for the address of the venue and headed out for my meet and greet, leaving plenty of time. Traffic in Melbourne is nuts and it took a solid 20 minutes to get to the venue but I had left in good time. Parked near the buses and decided to go over and see if anything was happening. I don't know why but I decided to check my tickets one last time. Good thing I did because THEY WERE NOT THERE. OMG.

It was now 4:50 and I was supposed to be at the meet and greet at 5:30. Drove as fast as I could back to the hotel but there was no way I was going to make it. Got red lights all the way and it took me 30 minutes. I texted @fairfax_verde and begged her to stall. She said she would. One thing I kept telling myself was that Adam is always late. He does press before these things and it was going to be a busy press day for him. It was the day after he kicked that paps ass. I also gave myself a stern talking to re: If I got back in time and did meet Adam it was not going to be with red raccoon eyes so I damn well better not cry! I did find the tickets, I'd left them on the bedside table when I checked the address. I found a faster way back and was only 5 minutes late when I got back.

As it turns out I needn't have panicked. They weren't checking us in until 6:30. They were however checking people in for the Flambert dinner. I had bought a ticket to that so I checked in. I couldn't stay for the dinner but it gave me a chance to cool off, freshen up and grab some water before going out to join @fairfax_verde in the line. Neil came for us at about 6:15 and checked us all off on his list and we gathered in this big rotunda type hall thing. @fairfax_verde risked Neil's wrath and snapped a pic or two so I did too. I'm a follower, what can I say. I was so flustered by the whole ticket thing though that I really didn't get pictures of a lot of things I probably would have otherwise (ie; the actual venue etc.)

So Neil was very laid back. Gave us the please don't kiss/grope/assgrab Adam (all of which have happened) lecture, explained they were running late because of press and that they would be mailing us our shirts. We were then told we could wander for 30 minutes and then please regroup. So I got a drink for @fairfax_verde from the Flambert party nearby and we freshened up again and then there was a lot of milling about and trying not to end up at the front of any lines. Then Neil returned and led us into a big black room. It was actually a small theater sort of room. I made a diagram. The whole thing was black. Walls, floor, ceiling, chairs, all back. We were not allowed to use flash and I knew there was no way I was going to get pictures in there. I had made the decision to only bring an ancient point and shoot with me. I didn't want to be worrying about taking photos during the shows. I wanted to experience them not through the eye of a camera. Oh and if you were at the M&G and I didn't say 'hi' it's not because I'm standoffish, I'm just a little shy about approaching people. I recognized several people though and you all looked awesome.

We waiting a little bit in there and got some more instructions. Adam would sign two things for us. If there was more than one person in a group he would meet each of those people one on one and take individual pictures and then one with the whole group. @fairfax_verde and I decided to be a group so we could have a picture taken with both of us as well as the individual one. We could take as many pictures as we wanted (no flash) and stay as long as we liked until it was over but when Neil took our official picture then our time with Adam was up and we need to move on so the next person could come up. But we could still stay in the room and take photos. We were also requested not to talk about the pap thing because they'd all been talking about it all day and were over it. They provided a table for us so we could put our stuff down while we were with Adam and could get our signed posters there. We all lined up and @fairfax_verde and I managed to get ourselves about in the middle of the line. Adam came in in t-shirt, jeans, flip flops and his black hat with his hair soft and down. He wears the hat pushed way back on his head and between the black walls and his black hair you could hardly tell he was wearing it.

So, impressions. He's beautiful, of course. His smile lights up the room. He's very slim and tall but not imposingly so and he has gorgeous eyes. He's very easy and calm with people. He recognized several people that he'd met before and freely gave out hugs to many people. I don't know what the M&G situation was like anywhere else but our group seemed pretty low key. No squealing or failing (externally anyway!)

hugging someone who is not me.

So my turn came up and I went up and he basically threw my calm plan of what to say out the window. I went up to him and shook his hand and said,
“Hi, I'm Christina, nice to meet you.”
He replied, “Hi! Nice to meet you too.” and then I was going to say something totally coherent and intelligent I am certain but he bent down to look closer, reached out and touched his hand to the collar/choker I was wearing and said, “This is cool!” and most of my brain cells fled. I'm pretty sure I said “Oh, thank you.” I then thanked him for Donor's Choose on behalf of my sister. I gave him the prints I had brought to be signed.

Neil had said he had a silver sharpie so I didn't bring mine up but he only had black. He liked the print with all the band/dancers on it, he said something about it, I think he said it was cool too. Then he very carefully found a light spot on it near his picture and signed it in small size so it would show. He then looked at the other one and said, “Oh this is pretty!” and signed it really big right across the middle. I quietly flailed. He then gave me a hug (!) and we posed for the picture (I forgot to take my glasses off!) and that was that. I moved over to wait for @fairfax_verde and then when she was done went back for our group photo. He reached out and sort of pulled me in with his arm around my shoulder. (OMG) She had her arm around his waist so mine ended up around his hips. Really. My arm was around his hips. I'm just going to take a moment to think about that....ahem. Okay, got that picture too. We hung about until the end when they brought in about 45 people for a radio meet & greet. I found out later that went super fast. We were very lucky to not be rushed given how late he was running.

These are the two prints I brought before they were signed:

Merch was nuts, not a chance of getting anything there unless I missed Allie and I didn't want to miss her and she'd already started. Our seats were fantastic. Lots of sitters in front of us but the people to the sides and behind were better. I was a little cautious about standing at first because a: my feet were already killing me and b: folks behind us were sitting. But then I stood up anyway and no one cared. It was almost like being front row since we were so close. Someone, I think @merrycello tweeted later that the crowd was weird, pockets of wonderful and pockets of dead folks. That was my experience too but was helped by the fact that we had a good group to our left (they were filming ninjas, got called out at one point by security) and just behind us two rows back were three adorable gay boys and their friends who were dancing up a storm. One was rocking an Adam look and people were taking pics with him during the intermission/dance party. He was adorable but I can tell you in person he looked nothing like Adam.

Allison was amazing, she's also adorable and she needs more/better material to work with. Something happened this weekend that gives me hope this will happen.

Intermission seemed to go fast. I don't know if it was just my shows or what but I didn't think there was any particular delay. I'd heard that had been an issue at some shows. It wasn't at Melbourne or Hollywood. So lights down, FYE up, band out (OMG Tommy! Monte! Isaac! Cam!) This was Isaac's first show so I tried to pay attention to him a bit. Then Adam. I had just seen him in jeans, no makeup and floppy hair and he turned up maybe an hour later totally glammed out, lots of bindis with the highest hair I remember seeing on the tour to that point. I'm not going into total detail, there are vids out there but the show was great. I know for a lot of people it wasn't the best Glam Nation show (in fact Maria put it bottom three) but I loved it. We were very very close, he sounded great (though he wasn't going full out) and we got a very very sweet kiss during Fever. We only got Mad World for an encore and truly, not surprised.

Note: Isaac appears to be even tinier than Tommy.

After the show we went out to the buses and it was batshit crazy. I thought I was going to go down at one point. Feet were killing me (4 ½ inch heels) and some of my toes are still numb from it. Allie came out but not a chance I was going to see her, she's tiny. Then Adam came out and OMG did people lose their shit. Pushing, shoving, screaming. He went partway dawn the line and then, oddly, went back to his his bus pretty quickly. Security guy then told us he'd been bitten by fire ants and they took him in to wash his feet/ankles. He was wearing flip slops so they probably got him badly. He confirmed this at an interview later. If you are not familiar with fire ants they have a venom similar to hornets and their bites are horrible and really painful. I actually ended up in an ER once after being bitten by them. So Florida was batting 0 for 3 at this point. Paps on the beach, iffy crowd at the show and attacked by ants. It's a wonder he didn't just flee the state at that point.

I said goodbye to @fairfax_verde (and Mr. @fairafax_verde) and hobbled back to my car. I was sharing a room with Maria and Ashleigh but they got to town well after me and because of the meet and greet we hadn't met up yet. They were at Dennys grabbing a bite and I was tempted to join them (you may have noticed my last mention of food was 7am and it was now after 11pm) but I was so tired I just went straight back to the hotel. They arrived shortly after and we gabbed for a quite a while before falling asleep.

Next morning we talked for a while more before packing up and heading out, them for Tampa for the ball game/concert at the Trop and me heading south to Hollywood. I stopped at the house to trade off the Accord (AC busted) for the Avalon (AC working!) and was informed that Dandy had spent the entire day/night in the front hall looking out the sidelight window waiting for me to come home. So pathetic! I felt terrible leaving him again. But not too terrible as he was being looked after and I was off to see Adam again!

So ends part one of my Glam weekend and if you are still around I am so sorry for the length of this!

Thanks for posting a recap. I like reading all the little details of the M&G and waiting at the buses since I did neither at my concert. Also your pictures are wonderful--really artistic and also capturing all of the show not just Adam and Adam/Tommy moments.

Looking forward to part 2.

I think what you finally decided to take for Adam to sign is perfect. Sorry about your shoes, even more sorry about your panic during the ticket-gone-missing episode but at the end all went well. Next up: Hollywood, FL.

I had my fingers crossed for you at the beginning of this - I'm so glad that even with the ticket disaster, everything still seemed to work out okay! *hugs*
Brilliant recap, baby. I love all the details about M&Gs and the show, so thank you!

What a great recap! I am far too lazy to write everything up, I'm just going to post pictures in my lj.

Meeting you was one of the best parts of the weekend! /sappy

Great recap! I wish I'd known all your pics were going to be here because I ended up clicking through all the links individually when you posted them on Twitter. haha. I'm glad you got to meet Adam; that's still on my "to do" list someday. I've met the rest of the band (well, not Isaac) and hung out with them, but Mr. Lambert is scarce.

Can I ask more about your experience with Neil? I'm kind of a fan of his, LOL, and I'm just curious as to what he was like. When he was giving the 'rules' was he kind of joking and friendly about it, or was it sort of all business? Can you share any of your pics of him? I saw him briefly in NOLA but didn't get a chance to say hi... he probably wouldn't have replied anyway, LOL.

Thank you for the all the details - I'll be attending the M&G in KL and it's great that I know what goes on. Is it any better being last on the line?

And thanks so much for the tweets - I was having an awful day in the office and it made my day! *hugs*

What length? I read it twice in no time at all.

How come your point-and-shoot takes so much better pictures than my point-and-shoot?

I love how good cats are at making you feel like a total low life!

Never be sorry for such a comprehensive beautiful post. Remember Quinn many ppl do not have the advantage like us of seeing the live show so your wonderful posts and graphics and pictures are brillant. I cannot wait for our Melbourne show I am considering glam it up a bit, after all you only live once :)

Loved this...your pictures are so sharp. I love how Tommy and Brooke are mooning the pap as the proverbial FU. And I totally appreciate your feelings about your high heels - love em but not meant for long long standing; the things we do for fashion...LOL.

Hey - would you mind if I "followed" you on twitter. I'm "@SCHudnut" and basically signed up to see tweets from Adam, but would love to add you. I don't tweet a lot but occasionally have something to say.

Lastly, now that the tour is over, how will we know what the Adam and the Glamily are doing - at least until the international tour starts. I feel a bit sad about the end, but know they must be feeling exhausted. And knowing they're all leaving the country before long leaves me a bit unsettled...so much can happen across the pond. I know I'm being a worry wort, but still....

Hugs. Shirls

Sure it's ok if you follow me! I'm a worrywart too so know just what you mean. They are flying out of LA tonight for two shows in Singapore and then, rumor has it, spending a few days off in Bali before continuing on around the pacific then back to HI before going to Europe.

He has fans everywhere and I'm sure we'll hear what they are up to. The band probably will not tweet much though. International data is very costly.
