I am full of rage today. Or maybe rage is too strong but I Am Very Upset. How's that?

My mother, bless her, has been fighting with the bank for months. My dad had two bank accounts. One was one of those investment type accounts and the other was a joint checking account with my mother. He paid the bills out of the one in his name. When he died she closed that account and began paying the bills from her own account. Even though the other account is closed the bank keeps sending payments from it, which of course bounce. She has gone there four times to try and straighten this out and just today she got a notice her car payment bounced. I looked and saw all her payments had gone out as scheduled so I called the bank that has her car loan to see if she had any missed payments. She doesn't. She has been double paying and is ahead for six months. Her self-storage place sent her a letter saying her check bounced and they are going to turn her over to the sheriffs. Now of course that's just a tactic but it scared her to death. I AM OVER THIS. I'm going to work late Monday so I can go to the bank and tear them a new one.

Do not make my mother cry or you will face my wrath.

I will not even go into what went on at the car dealer today but suffice to say they were falling all over themselves to try and make a deal with me as I walked out the door. They don't like it when you leave.

Banks are such losers now. It used to be that you new the people there (God, I sound old). Now, it is some kid with an attitude. (I do sound OLD).

You need to walk in wearing Adam's boots (just remember THAT image when you go into the Bank.)

Good luck I have just spent 4 months arguing with a bank and trying very hard not to lose it with the tellers and local managers. I eventually pulled out all my money and opened a new account in a new bank, a very tedious task. I am now currently in negotiations with my payroll over some back pay owed to me. The answers are the same in both instances "I have changed it on the computer now it will be ok next week"!!! If only that were true!. Time to bring in the union me thinks.
Good job caring for your mum :) also you reminded me of Brian with the comment about the car dealership lol

I'm an avid read of a consumer blog called The Consumerist (http://www.consumerist.com). I've read a few stories of this happening. See this (http://consumerist.com/2010/04/bank-america-loves-you-too-much-to-ever-let-you-and-your-checking-account-go.html) post. They actually have a list of contact info for the higher ups at some of the major banks. They might be a good option to contact if you cannot correct it on Monday.

I was going to recommend the Consumerist as well. It might be worth reading a few of their posts about people dealing with banks to see what has worked well.

I only deal with a credit union. Big banks are only in it for the profit. And I never, NEVER have any automatic payments taken out of my account because it is almost impossible to stop it, even after the account is paid off.
