It worked! Yeah!
I got my new TV this morning and got it all set up. Just an aside here, you don't have to pay a fortune for a good TV. It's my job to know what looks good on TVs and to make things that look good on TV. Like most people I have a budget. I paid less than $500 (ok, just over $500 with tax) for this 37" Vizio at Sam's club and it's great. Perfect for me. One of the main things to remember is do not go by how the thing looks in the store! Read reviews, know what's good before you get there and then, if you can, get your hands on the remote for the TV you are looking at and adjust the picture. It's a little known fact that stores adjust the picture on floor models so that the ones they want to move look good and the others look less good. My hand to God it's true.
Anyway, the reason for my flail is this: My laptop has an HDMI output. I hooked that baby up to my shiny new TV and voila:
It worked! Yeah!

Yes! I can now watch all the videos I have on my computer on my big HDTV. Maybe even if we get streaming tomorrow night I can watch it on the big screen. Though given the quality of streaming video I may not want to try that. I've already watched the Larry Flick, Michelle Collins and Slezak interviews as well as some tour performances and the FYE video. I am a happy girl.
