OK, so the whole Kanye thing. I think we can all agree he's a jerk but really. You know that hilarious (yet true) video in which Cheeks talks about that Miss California fiasco? He says when he heard about it he was annoyed but figured she was entitled to her opinion so whatever. Then he actually read what she said and went from annoyed to outraged. That's kinda where I am at with Kanye. I was (and I guess still am) ready to write him off and forget the whole thing but then he shows up on Leno and I heard he apologized and I was like, 'meh, whatever.' Then I read what he actually said and am outraged all over again.

I quote: Summing up what he did and how he now feels about it, West said, "I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt."

Excuse me? Whose hurt? Kanye's hurt? How, exactly was Kanye hurt? He wasn't even nominated for this award. He wanted Beyonce to win, she didn't and he's hurt? He makes an ass of himself and hurts a young girl and steals her joy in her moment all because the one he wanted to win didn't win? A stupid moon man trophy? Grow the fuck up Kanye and for God's sake it is not all about you and it never will be.

I'm as disappointed in him and angry at what he did as the next person, but I do know that he's been dealing with his mother's death and from what I've heard, he's self-medicating (and not in a good way). Leno didn't bring that up, but I think it was unspoken when he referred to his "hurt." He had a bottle of booze that he was openly drinking on the red carpet at the VMAs, and was proudly wielding it for the reporters. I wouldn't be surprised if he was very drunk, given the video we've seen of him backstage when he had his meltdown. Obviously none of this excuses what he did, but it does put it somewhat into context. He needs help, and he needs to heal.

I knew all that and was willing to just write it off but as I said, he needs to grow up right now. His apology last night showed that it's still all about him in his own mind. His mother (by all accounts) was a strong woman, maybe he just never learned to be a grownup. It's past time. Therapy would be a good plan. And detox.

Kanye's always been outspoken, but since his mother died (last year, I think), he's been worse. I know he was incredibly close to her, and her death effed him up.

That, however, does not excuse him for his asshattery the other night. He made a fool of himself, embarassed that poor child, and Beyonce, and...possibly as he intended, we're all talking about him.

That's because stupid Jay Leno asked what he (Kanye) thought his mother would think of what he did. So the hurt he is referring to is the pain he still feels from losing his mother. I'm not making excuses for him, just saying. The real winners in this are Beyonce because she proved herself to be a class act and Taylor because everyone is rallying too her side. If Kanye is having a hard time dealing with losing his mom, he needs to seek therapy, not Hennessy.

I don't believe this wasn't unplanned. Whether the VMA's themselves were involved can't be positively stated but I suspect a lot of people knew about this beforehand.

Either way - he's an ass.

I guess I'm getting old. This ridiculousness at the VMAs, Serena Williams total meltdown at the US Open, Tiger Woods throwing a fit everytime he doesn't win, Congressman calling the President a liar at a session of Congress, ABC at first not letting the new men's champion of the US Open (actually telling him no) speak a few words in Spanish....what a world, what a world.

I loathe Kanye West and wouldn't defend him in a dog fight, but that was staged.

i didn't know what the hell everyone was talking about with this
and then i watched the clip of her interrupted acceptance and was like OMG! her face! she was like... i don't even know, she was uncomfortable, clearly, and i think i would have cried in her place
then i watched the part where beyonce won later and let her do her speech - i did cry a little bit, and i don't even know who these ppl are!

It's all about race: Kanye's black, Beyonce's black, the girl is white.
Case closed.
At least this case is closed. He's not smart enough for it to be anything
else.
He certainly trashed her moment. Son of a bitch. As I say, son of a bitch.
Catch you later.
