I was having a really good day until I opened the file of my new fic and it was gone. Only the first sentence is left and now I have to start all over and hope I remember the good stuff. So [livejournal.com profile] jerakeen if you're reading this don't expect anything for a couple more days.

Other than that little disaster (courtesy of Open Office) it's been a good week. I've gotten some good work done. On Wednesday we visited a new printer that we are going to use and it was kind of like a class field trip. We got a tour of the whole facility (presses longer than my house!) and I was really pleased with what I saw. They were doing really nice work, beautiful stuff. Our proofs looked amazing, which was a change from last time when they were a disaster (hence the need for a new printer.) I may try these guys out with some of my photographs after seeing the way they do things.

I've been working on a video piece (nearly done, thank God) set to 'Shout'. I used to love that song too. It's going to be a very long time before I want to hear it again. It was a rush job but it's coming out nice. Has a cut on Every.Single.Beat. OMG.

Another piece I've been working on for a while is coming together and I heard it with the sound today for the first time and loved it. It's hilarious. The way we work when the animations are very complex is I make a rough version with stand-in shots that is timed out exactly the way the final will be and send that off to the people recording and creating the sound. We work separately and then they send me the sound and I put it together with the video. That way I can work on the animations and special effects without having to wait for the sound. Kind of fun when it all comes together and is just they way it was envisioned in the original storyboard meetings.

On the photography front I have a bunch of images I want to post, just haven't had a chance to get to them. I think my next assignment job is going to be a golf course. Sometimes my job is like that stupid line from Forest Gump. I never know what I'm going to get. Oh and it was mentioned that in the event we get hit with a hurricane it might be a good idea to get some stock footage of it while we have a chance. I made it pretty damn clear that my ass is not going to be outside shooting a hurricane. I am not Anderson fucking Cooper. I suggested that the person with the idea might want to be sure the power packs for the cameras are well charged before the storm and to feel free to collect them the day before.

I think I'm getting that backbone my former boss told me to acquire.

As mentioned I'm dipping my toes into writing again. This one is all prose. We'll see how it goes. I've been circling around an all fandom prompt table but haven't jumped in just yet.

Thanks, cookies help in any situation.
It's not as bad as I feared. I just started writing and most of it came back to me. I'm sure the phrasing etc. is different but the gist of it is there.

What fandom are we talking? And if it's what I think it is, can I help?

I love "Shout". It just gets you going everytime you hear it.

Ah, Anderson Cooper and hurricanes now that's "crack" weather watching.

That sounds very familiar. I used to take bellydance classes and by the time we had memorized a choreography, everyone was so sick of the chosen music, no matter how much we had liked it in the beginning. Having to play close attention to the same twenty seconds of a song over and over gets old pretty fast.

Visiting a professional printer sounds cool, I've never had the opportunity.

And this obviously doesn't help with your lost fic, but I've heard some people post their unfinished stuff set to "private" on lj as a backup.

Good idea.

You have so much on your plate but it all sounds interesting and exciting. Good luck with all the projects.

It's good to find a printer that actually does quality work. We've experienced both -- sometimes it's worth the extra few dollars -- quality DOES make a huge difference.
