This should be a meme. I never tried the iTunes Dj feature because I like my playlists. I decided to break out of the box and give it a try. My understanding is this thing picks songs from your library and puts them together in what it thinks is a good playlist?

:

  • Dreams are More Precious by Enya (a holiday tune I will confess I can't even place. I have a lot of music and haven't heard it all)

  • Oh Holy Night by Celtic Woman

  • Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie

  • How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) by James Taylor

  • Rock With You by Michael Jackson

  • Heartless (Live) by Kris Allen

  • The End of The World by Vonda Shepard (again, I don't even know what this song is much less that I apparently own it)

  • Oiche Chiuin by Enya

  • Ring of Fire (studio version) by Adam Lambert

  • You Rock My World by Michael Jackson

  • Lo, How A Rose e'er Blooming by ??? (seriously, WTF?)

  • Underneath it All by No Doubt

  • The Holly and The Ivy by ???

  • Burn by Cassidy Haley (ok, right about now I'm on the edge of hysterical, the only thing that would have made this funnier was if they'd chosen Whiskey in Chuches for the Cassidy Haley song.)

  • Anyone at All by Carole King

  • Smooth (Live) by Carlos Santana

Seriously? On what planet is this a cohesive (much less coherent) playlist??? I may have to play with this all day just for the giggles.

I need an 'amused' icon.

Uhmmm, that's an "interesting" selection.

I think I'll stick with my own playlists -- boring as they may seem. LOL

That is an incredibly weird list of songs. What's with all of the Christmas selections? And look at the two AI songs toss in, it is all a bit strange.

It's all a lot strange! I'm still trying to figure out what, exactly, made them think this group went together. The holiday songs are particularly baffling then add in electronic dance, pop, etc. in no reasonable way and it's just baffling. The funny thing is it keeps doing weird ones every time I hit refresh. I have yet to get a single playlist I'd listen to.

Nah, from what I understand iTunes DJ is just shuffle play. It is iTunes Genius that is supposed to make some kind of connections between the songs in your library and what songs go well with them, but I haven't ever tried it.

That's my understanding also.

You don't have to use just the main library. You can pick any playlist and it will shuffle them. I made a playlist of all my non-holiday music, and use that as the basis of my DJ. Works great!

Lordy, reading your play list well, makes me dizzy what they did to it.
I know why I never tried this program.
Cause what the **** do these have in common...James Taylor to Michael Jackson, oh cept two words of the title...I guess they figure that makes a nice transition musically? DOINK!
