You guys know I recommend fic pretty much never, but in the last two days I've read two amazing fics. They are both really long and lovely.

First is a Torchwood fic:

Comfortable Horrors by [livejournal.com profile] alex51324, about 30,000 words.

It's post-cyberwoman. I know, it's been done and done to death, only NOT. This is perhaps the best take on it I have ever read. Jack keeps Ianto prisoner in the Hub afer the events of Cyberwoman and... I can't explain it, it's so much more than that. Trust me and read it.

Now here is where you are really going to have to trust me. Remember I said I had spent the weekend reading Kris Allen/Adam Lambert fic? Well this is that pairing. I read it today. I only had time to read the first bit before work and was so anxious to get to the rest all day. Even if you have no clue who these boys are, even if you don't ever read RPS, give this a try. Just pretend they are characters, because of course they are. It's fiction.

If it Kills Me by [livejournal.com profile] buffyx, about 35,000 words

Premise: You know, I typed a summary but it made it sound like cheesy Bad!fic, and trust me, in lesser hands that's just what this would have been, but it's not. Read it.

I am just nearly categorically opposed to RPS, but goddamn! Kradam!slash just about writes itself, doesn't it? Those are two adorable boys who are comfortable with themselves, each other, and their friendship and they don't seem to mind a bit playing to the slashy fangirl balcony. ;)

Honest to God, they are adorable together. They dance together on stage, they bubble tweet, they talk about crushing on each other, they make jokes about who tops! They make me feel not guilty at all for enjoying the RPS.

I just read If It Kills Me. Wow. Even not watching American Idol and vaguely knowing who the people were, it was a great fic that totally stood on it's own. Thank you so much for the rec!

You're welcome, wasn't it great? I loved how she got into Kris's head and how disconnected he felt after he got home. I can so totally see a person (any person) being affected that way. Her take on Adam was great too.

That buffyx story is pretty amazing, isn't it? I read it after it was posted last night (in one shot, hence my tired eyes tonight!). I usually don't read RPS either, but I have to admit that I have taken more than one little sojourn down the Adam/Kris garden path lately. There's some great stuff out there. I'm glad to find a fellow traveler -- hee.

There really is some great stuff. I suppose in my head I just figured RPS=Bad!fic but there are some super talented writers taking this on. I suppose it helps that the actual guys involved are treating it all with such good humour.

The other TW fic you recommended was really good so I am going to give this one a try. Thanks.
