Just got home from the hospital. My dad had his lung biopsy today. I was pretty much sit and wait all day long on those horrible hospital chairs. In a place where hundreds of people have to sit and wait for hours every single day why do they never have comfy chairs? My back is killing me. My Kindle got a workout today keeping me in reading material. For a day spent doing nothing I am exhausted and just ordered dinner to be delivered, I can't face cooking tonight.

I think I caught up on all the book group membership requests and it looks as though we're going to have a nice number of people! More later after I eat and decompress.

At my mother's bank they have chairs for people to sit while waiting for the tellers. Their customer relations people continually ask the elderly to sit while waiting but the chairs are low with no arms and people like my mother who is in her 80s with severe arthritis can't use the chairs because they can't get up.
Some designers/decorators don't stop to consider the people who need to use chairs etc...

Talk about thoughtless! I'm sure they look nice but as you say, useless for the elderly or infirm.

I don't have an answer to your question, but the most uncomfortable waitingroom chairs I ever encountered, where at an orthopedic practice. A place that was not only frequented by people with bad backs, but also constantly running behind appointments. Not to mention that the doctors at such a place should be the first to know what type of chair is good or bad for ones health.
