There are protestors picketing the American Idol concert in San Jose saying anyone who goes to see Adam or Allison will burn in hell.

It's a good thing it's thousands of miles away because I am so NOT in the mood for that kind of shit.

I just saw that on the AI community I follow... Why are people so awful?

I hope one of two things happens...

a) They don't hear a word of it 'til after the show has finished (if ever - though that's completely unrealistic)

or

b) They DO hear about it, and make sure their performances in tonight's show, and their interactions together deliver a firm "FUCK YOU" to all the assholes holding signs and yelling their hate outside the venue.

why are they protesting Allison? I can't believe I'm just now getting around to looking at my flist for the day. jesus christ. What is wrong with people?

I suspect, though, that protests aren't completely unexpected or surprising. If one can ever really expect ignorance and bigotry and hatred and be unsurprised when they show up. I have a friend who says she's never surprised by anything people do. Me? I'm surprised multiple times every day.

We're chatting about it in my AI group tonight and basically their beef with Allison is that she's a minor, performing "that song" with him (Slow Ride) and now they're protesting Kris too because he supports Adam's ways. JFC. What part of "do unto others" and "love thy neighbour" do they not understand?

Doesn't Adam support Kris' ways?

I understand people worrying about her age. But, I assume she is not an emancipated minor. So, her parents have control. They are her final answer.

Michael Sarver, the idol who finished 10th, has been tweeting all evening during the concert, about the protesters but also about the performances. He said earlier, "Funny how people think it's a good idea to mess with a big Texan and his AI family. Lol Adam is just fine ,shakes it off and so should we." He went on to say that everyone put on a great show tonight and reiterated what a strong family they are. Whether he truly means it or not (given the past controversy over remarks he made about Adam's sexuality), I'm glad they're presenting a united front to the idiots who think they can single out any one of them and try to hurt them.

Well, I'm embarassed for my city. When I went to see George Michael they were out there, and shot down by everyone in line. No one was listening to their B.S. I wish I was going tonight. sigh.

That really pisses me off (and I'm not even that interested in AI this year). The only positive thing is that when the protestors do that they bring more attention to Adam and Allison.
