New audio book, read by Gareth David-Lloyd

Just a quick first impression: Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahem.

I loved this one! It should be an episoide. GDL is a great reader and did an outstanding job. The story was creepy and fun with assorted Bond type gadgets for Ianto to play with (which he did). There were a few times I thought Ianto's character was a bit off (a touch too feaful about some things) but not enough to be a big issue and even that was sort of explained away with Gwen wondering to herself is Ianto was coming out of shell because he is having regular sex or because he is having regular sex with Jack.
This one was very clearly broken into the two couples, Jack was with Ianto, Gwen with Rhys.
Quick way simplified overview of the plot: alien larvae have been found and Torchwood is trying to track down the source before the things reach adulthood and swarm. Gwen and Rhys are on land (Rhys' mate is involved) and Ianto and Jack spend part of the time on land and part on the Ocean in Torchwood's secret super spy boat, the Sea Queen (hee!) which Ianto is a touch miffed not to have been informed existed. This is just fun, really. Gwen was good in it and even in an alien induced state admitted to herlf that she is very jealous of Ianto while still utterly in love with Rhys. It makes very very clear that Jack and Ianto are a couple right up to the end in which a conversation takes place while Ianto is dressing after they have had sex and suggesting they might try it somehwere with a view one of these days and also asking if Jack is going to pretend to sleep or just pace around keeping him awake.

This is pretty incoherent, sorry. I liked it, can you tell? I could nitpick it to death cause it wasn't perfect but I'm not going to do that.

Did you hear the previous one, read by Eve Myles? It's the most Jack/Ianto thing ever.

I did hear the previous one but this one is way more Jack/Ianto than even that one!

Thank you for the write-up, Quinn! We still haven't gotten ours yet, even though the release date given at the bbc webstore had said June 4th. Arghhh.

Really looking forward to this one, though, as Gareth is such an excellent reader (something I can discern only after first melting to a puddle when I hear his voice, LOL)

Give a listen to his H.P. Lovecraft sometime (available on Audible.com) it's mesmerizing.

I'm friending you back, btw. Hello!

Thanks :-)
I have all of GDLs audio books and love his voice. He's really very good at the audio book thing, I can't believe it took them this long to get him to do a TW one.
