Listened to the new audio drama.
Overall I enjoyed it. It was a creepy story but given the nature of things (it's only 2.5 hours) it wasn't very well fleshed out. The story is read by Eve Myles and she does a good job of it for the most part, she has a pleasant voice but her Jack is horrid. She'd have done better to have not attempted an American Accent. It's so bad it took me out of the story every time.
The premise is, as I said, creepy. People vanish and turn up dead a few days later but their bodies are far older than a few days. Turns out they are being sent to 'hell' (which consists of them living out their worst fears) and their corpses turn up after they eventually die there of old age. All the characters are in this one, including Andy and also an OC. Takes place just before From Out of The Rain. Jack finds himself sent to hell, where, since he can't die, he's going to remain for eternity.
They know who sent him there and that person believes he is punishing sinners. Ianto decides that if Jack can be forgiven for his 'sins' then he will be able to escape from Hell. To Gwen's horror he snatches the device that sent Jack to Hell and follows him there. Tosh has worked out how to track him and brings them both back.
Not a lot of Jack/Ianto in here and some of what is here is annoying but they are clearly together, Jack at one point thinks of Ianto as the man he loves, while in hell he remembers watching TV on a Sunday morning with Ianto and when Ianto does finally turn up to rescue Jack (it's years for Jack) Jack at first preceives him to be an angel. The relationship is treated in a matter of fact way, which is actually a good thing to my mind.
Rhys is pretty much on the sidelines and Owen's part is not large either. Tosh has a bit more to do and there is a cute scene between her and Ianto.
Also Gwen starts out the story as though she is trying to communicate with someone and you don't find out who until the end. I will not spoil but I liked that bit.

Nevertheless, I really liked the treatment of the Jack/Ianto relationship in this--the added depth of it. Also, what Jack's version of hell was told me a lot about his character's relationship to everyone else in the Hub, and the guilt he carried.
All in all, we liked it, it was well scary!
BTW, Gareth's recorded a TW audio book, and given his treatment of other audio material (angsty has some short stories he's done, non TW) I'm really looking forward to seeing how he does with it.
And Quinn, if I posted everytime I noticed what stunning photos you do, it'd look like I'm spamming you! Can I just say your work continues to be amazing and beautiful!
