It's 30 out with a wind chill of 26. Farenheit. I LIVE IN FLORIDA!!!!! I don't own a coat. My sweaters are all made of cotton.
This is not going to be fun.

Try -8F in Toronto, lol

Yeah but if I was in Toronto and it was -8 I'd be warm. I'd have the correct clothing for it and real heat in my house.

Yes, that really is unfair.

How can it be that our high temp today in Iowa will be 44°F?

Argh! I'm really sorry to hear that. One of the ways I get through my days (right now it's -23 Celsius with the wind chill factor) is by imagining that I'm sunning on a patio somewhere in Florida, with a daiquiri close at hand. What a bummer that you are getting this awful cold weather too!

One word: layers!

I think we're in the single digits today with the wind chill. 26 is sounding positively balmy.

It would to me too if I still lived in Boston. I'd have the correct clothing for it. My house would have heat. I'd own a hat and a jacket. Try 28 with no jacket, no warm sweater, no hat, gloves, heat etc.

It's 32 here in Orlando with a nice brisk wind so it's about 25, if that. My poor tropical plants have been all bundled up for weeks and they're still probably not going to make it.

I have a windjacket with a fleece lining but I can't find my gloves, thin as they are, anywhere. I swear the dogs ate them.

I had to go to MGM Studios last night for a work preview of the American Idol Experience and the only time we weren't freezing was during the show which was indoors. Thank God they gave us hot chocolate during the breaks between shows. It was a very long slow ride out to the parking lot on that tram, I almost got off and ran..LOL..it would have been faster and warmed me up.

My doggies had to be physically carried out the door this am. They did NOT want to go out!
And my beautiful Robellini palm, that I spent so much money on is now brown instead of green.
But, as my neighbor says, "It may be cold, but at least we don't have to shovel it".

A few layers topped off by a windbreaker/leather jacket (or any other non-open-weave jacket) should do the trick. And a scarf to cover head and ears if you have one, or an extra sweater you can use as one. I live in NY and all my sweaters are cotton too -- wool just gets too hot -- and I rarely wear a coat because I just find them too bulky to deal with once I get wherever I'm going. It's all about layers -- a t-shirt (preferably long-sleeved, or two if you get really cold), a light cotton sweater, a second one (heavier if possible), then the jacket. A pair of leggings or tights under your pants and a decent pair of socks under closed shoes (preferably with soles other than thin leather which conducts cold quickly). That's my gear for the winter, even when it's below freezing. Layers, something to keep the wind from biting through them, and a scarf are key. Plus gloves if I have no pockets or need to carry something. (Socks can be used if you don't have any and are desperate.)

Sorry you're having to deal with that where you are though. It's just wrong. Welcome to our global climate change.

I should feel bad for you, but I don't. I live in Wisconsin. It was 7 when I left for work with a wind chill of -9. No matter how many layers you have on, that's still freezing.

This weather is cwazee. California has been having record HIGH temperatures (in the upper 60s and 70s in Northern CA) for a long time now, and we are going into a third year of drought if we don't get more rain. It rained last night finally but not enough. "Nor nearly enough."
