Maybe I'm Just Paranoid?
The more bizarre stuff keeps coming out about Gov. Palin the more befuddled I become about the whole mess. It is inexplicable that the GOP could be so unaware, but maybe they are. Between the ethics thing, the seceding from the Union (they call that Treason where I come from), the falsified family photos, it just gets nuttier with every hour that passes. Tonight Campbell Brown just eviscerated Tucker Bounds trying to get him to answer the simple question of 'please tell me one decision Gov. Palin made as 'commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard?" (and seriously, if it wasn't so scary them calling her that would be hysterical. Actually even though it is scary is is hysterical.)
So my suspicious mind keeps coming around to this. He was going to announce his VP choice the day after the DNC to steel Obama's thunder (which shows him for the nasty SOB that he is) but really, would the obvious choices have done it? I suppose Lieberman might have but I tend to think not. He wanted to appease the right wing and get the press. So he chooses Palin. It's sure to work. About the only person less qualified to be president of the US at this point is Britney Spears. (OK, that was mean and not true. But not too far from not true.) So what's the result? This total shock, tons of press, no one is talking about Obama. Of course it was all not needed because we got Gustav to take the attention. But the end result has to be Palin headed back to Alaska like a rejected Supreme Court Nominee to 'take care of her daughter" and then he gets to choose the VP he actually does want.

2 - he appeased the religious right
3 - he ends up with the candidate he wants
