Someone asked me in a thread about the two Tales of the Supernatural audio books Gareth has done. I'm sorry I can't find the conversation where it happened but with any luck you will see it here.

Anyone who has heard him read knows Gareth is a fantastic reader of audio books. Why the Torchwood people haven't asked him to read one is beyond me. There are samples on his web site and I'm posting another one for you to check out. I got these books at Audible.com and highly recommend you do the same. They were less than $12 each as I am a member. He does a great job with all the various voices and accents and I chose a sample that reflects that.

Anyway, he reads two stories on Vol 1 and 1 on Vol 2 as follows:

Vol 1
Casting the Rune (45 minutes, first on the book)
There Was a Man Dwelt by a Churchyard (10 minutes, third on the book)

Vol 2
A View From a Hill (35 minutes, last on the book)

Here is a short bit from Casting the Runes:

Also, apparently it was divulged at The Rift that there will be no commentaries on the S2 DVDs. I'm gutted. I only buy DVDs for the commentaries, they are the best part. I can record the episodes myself, I don't need to buy DVDs for that. I buy them for the extras!

Maybe they meant for the individual releases, not the box set. Cuz no commentaries on the box set would be a nightmare.

I got the M.R. James books off iTunes, and even there they were only $15 each. I adore the way he reads There Was a Man Dwelt by a Churchyard. I actually preordered the Lovecraft books from Fantom, even with the shit exchange rate, in part because you get a free copy of Cult Conversations with their preorder.

I already have Cult Conversations so I figure I'll get the James from Audible too. As for the commentaries I'm really afraid it's none at all. The person who posted it said the person who told her (one of the writers or something) said they didn't budget for any commentaries. I hope it's wrong but it sounds true.
