Title: It Should Be Sexy
Fandom: Torchwood
Rating: G
Characters: Team
Summary: Immediate aftermath of Cyberwoman
Spoilers: For Cyberwoman
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, any of the characters, not making any money from it etc etc.
Authors Note: I wrote this one a while ago and wasn't sure if I wanted to post it or not. It's a long time since I wrote prose fic (though this is very short, less than 400 words.) I've alway wished we'd seen what happened immediately after the last scene in the basement. Ianto was clearly in no shape to care for himself so who did? Maybe one of these days I'll indulge myself and write one where no one did but not today. Thanks very much to [livejournal.com profile] joesther for the beta.

It should be sexy, Gwen thinks. The sexiest thing she’s ever seen even. But it’s not. Not at all. And really, the fact that she’s watching three handsome, naked men in a shower together and all she wants to do is weep should say something about her new life. Tosh is clutching her hand as though she’ll never let go and Gwen hopes that she doesn’t. It’s probably for the same reason that none of them have let any of the others out of their sight for the last hour.

After the horror in the basement they’d all stood frozen. None of them really knowing what to do as Ianto knelt, keening his grief in a way that had sent shivers down her spine. Owen had been the one to finally move, kneeling by Ianto’s side, gently trying to lift him to his feet with Jack’s help. The two of them had half carried Ianto to the medical bay, with her and Tosh trailing behind. They’d huddled together on the stairs as Owen and Jack had stripped clothes soaked in blood and water from Ianto’s shivering body and Owen had done a cursory check, to be sure none of the blood was Ianto’s. He’d given an injection of something, muttering about shock. Ianto hadn’t noticed, hadn’t seemed to be aware of much at that point. Owen and Jack had shared a silent conversation over Ianto’s head and urged Ianto up, guiding him to the locker room where the men of Torchwood cleaned up after missions and showered and changed when spending long hours in the Hub. The women used one down the hall. This night though they simply followed the guys and sat together on the bench beside the row of shower heads and Owen and Jack had stripped off their own filthy clothes and stepped into the water, gently sluicing the blood and gore from Ianto and themselves.

It should be sexy Gwen thinks. But it’s not.

Nice. Deceptive title, kind of draws you in and slaps you. Sort of how you imagine Gwen must be feeling.

Thanks, it's very nerve wracking to post in a new fandom so I'm glad you liked it.

This was very good. Heartbreaking and sad, but I love how they're all taking care of Ianto. Nice work!

Torchwood is fast becoming my new obsession. I do not know what this scene is about yet but it was beautifully written and very believable and understandable, with the added bonus of not spoilering me. Well done cheers chris

Excellent. It's good to see that everyone cared about Ianto and didn't abandon him in his grief. You should expand on this story.

Thanks. I doubt I"ll expand on this one but I have a couple of other things floating about in my head.

Thanks very much. I think this episode inspires a lot of fic because it's so very obvious that all sorts of interesting things happened in it's aftermath that we never got to see!

I know I've commented on this before but I just read it again and the impact of it still just hits me in the gut.

It's so powerful for such a short piece--I really love it.

Please write more Torchwood!! *Puppy-dog eyes*

Thanks so much, that's such nice feedback and what I was hoping for when I wrote it. I'd like to write some more, I've got a couple of bunnies floating around so maybe one of these days I will. I tend to fear it a bit since once I start I tend to write epics. I don't have much experience with prose as my biggest work has always been epistolic and graphic.
