Bento: Day 1

People seemed to enjoy the food porn the other day so here's my first effort at Bento. Today is a late day for me though, we'll see how it goes when I have to be out of the house at 4:45!

In the left container is an onigiri (rice ball), broccoli, grape tomatoes, and grapes. In the left is a piece of vegetable frittata, chicken teryaki, sesame ginger carrots, broccoli and a few more grape tomatoes. Up against the divider are a couple of packets of soy sauce. It fits in my lunch bag and I'm also taking a small container of yoghurt, and a banana for breakfast and I keep a packet of hobnobs in my desk so I'll have one of those for a snack.

So pretty! Do you use a fritatta pan? A friend got one for christmas, and I was surprised at how expensive it was. And about the directions for preparing one. I always thought they were just cooked in an open oven-proof skillet or pie plate. Basically, a thicker quiche minus the crust.

Nope, this one was made using a plain non-stick skillet on top of the stove. Super fast and easy. Beat up a few eggs with some fresh parmesan and salt and pepper. Pour the eggs into a hot pan, let them cook for a few seconds, top with whatever. Cook for a few minutes covered. Turn it over and cook a few more minutes and it's done.
For a traditional one I have a heavy oven safe saute pan that works like a charm.
