I need a book on how to pack. I used to be pretty good at it but for some reason I just can't commit to what I want to wear so I bring way too much stuff. I am leaving Wednesday morning, driving for six hours to South Carolina where I will attend two Marine Corps events and also tour the base etc. Then I'm driving home Saturday morning. So three dinners, 2 ceremonies and maybe a bit of sightseeing.

2 blouses
4 tanks
7 t-shirts
5 layering tanks
3 dresses
1 skirt
3 sweaters
1 linen over shirt
1 jeans
4 shorts
1 cargos
1 capris
6 bras
5 pairs of panties (I think I need a couple more pairs)
1 swimsuit
1 coverup
1 nightshirt
1 pr. sleep shorts
1 pr. lounge pants
1 robe
1 slip
1 cami

Help me! What should I bring??? It's going to be hotter than hell I know. I'm wearing a dress to the thing on Friday so that's about the only thing I know for sure I have to bring. And I haven't even started on the shoes.

I always bring more pairs of underwear than I think I'll need. You just never know. That seems like a lot of tanks/t-shirts, though. Why don't you wear dresses to the dinners or ceremonies, then you'll only need a couple casual daytime outfits right? I am a big fan of the dress, especially if it will be hot.

I don't know if I can be of any help. I use to travel a lot years ago
but haven't done much traveling lately. I would lay out the clothes I
planned to take and make sure that every item I brought would go with
one or more outfits. That way you never looked like you were wearing
the same thing twice. It's not easy, I still seem to bring a little more
with me then necessary.

I think you could use with a couple of extra pairs of underwear and couple less t-shirts and tanks. If you plan to wear dresses a few times you may want an extra slip.

Good luck and have fun.

If it is going to be really hot I would leave the jeans and 2 of the sweaters. What is the difference between layering tanks and tanks? In any case you have way too many tops for such a short trip. I usually pack using 2 main colors and then one more for contrast so most of the items can be worn with almost everything else. Also this makes it easier to choose the accessories and shoes.

I might bring this assortment...

2 blouses
4 tanks
7 2 t-shirts
5 layering tanks
3 2 dresses
1 skirt
3 1 sweater
1 linen over shirt
1 jeans
4 shorts
1 cargos
1 capris
6 bras
5 pairs of panties (I think I need a couple more pairs)
1 swimsuit
1 coverup
1 nightshirt
1 pr. sleep shorts
1 pr. lounge pants

1 robe
1 slip
1 cami

Except that I never packed that much in my life, even when I went to China for 21 days.

Remember: they have stores in South Carolina and you can buy anything you need. FanSee
