I've been checking Amazon the last few days for any sign that they are getting ready to ship the new Harry Potter to me. I ordered it back in April. Day before yesterday it was marked as 'shipping soon', yesterday it vanished from my order list. I panicked. I had ordered the deluxe version. When I checked they said they are no longer taking orders for that version and you can sign up to be notified when it's available. I figured I better get the regular version since I have no idea when the one I ordered is coming. Now they can't get it to me on Saturday if I order from them. So I called and reserved one at my local bookstore. Then I got an email saying they are preparing my book for shipment and can track it. They gave me a link back to my open and recently shipped orders. But that book and that order are not there. So I have no idea if that was just generated from my previous order or if they really are shipping it or what.

Talk about annoying. I've never ordered it before. I've always gone to the store or the midnight party or whatever. This year I decided to relax and just order it. So much for that plan.

There is much to be said for your local bookstore. I'm sure they would hold it for you until Saturday.

It's been all Harry, all the time for me for months. LOL

The last party will be tomorrow night. We're ready. For us, our small store has 150 holds. I expect there to be about 200 people at the party.

Saturday, will be a stream of Harry fans.

Do you think you'll end up with multiple copies, now? LOL

Good luck....and enjoy

I haven't received any notification either regarding my daughter's book. :/

I checked my amazon.com listing and noticed that it has been removed from my "soon to be shipped" list, too. But if I check the "purchased within the last 6 mos" list, it still shows up and shows that it is due to arrive at my home on the 21st. I'm worried now. :(

You worry too much...

In 2005, Amazon.com received more than 1.5 million advance
orders for the sixth Harry Potter novel. According to Amazon,
UPS and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) delivered “hundreds
of thousands of copies” on July 16, 2005, the release date.

I didn't order the regular edition, if I did I wouldn't be worried. I ordered the deluxe edition which they are now saying they don't have a release date for, aren't taking orders for and have removed from my order history. With any luck they are still sending it, maybe they ran out of deluxe copies, but it's very odd that it's no longer showing as one of my orders.

I know a few people that have ordered from Amazon in the past. They have received their books on time. In fact, I remember one friend telling me that she received confirmation stating that her book would be delivered between 8am and 8pm on the date of release. So I wouldn't worry.

I'll be at the Barnes & Noble here, volunteering for the launch party, and in line to purchase my book shortly after 11. :)

Hi! I sooo can't wait for book 7... and I'm sorry about all your Amazon problems, a friend of mine ordered 6 and she got it like, a month later after it came out in bookstores. She was very annoyed. Then again, I live in Mexico... Amazon must go nuts trying to figure out the streets here.
Since you don't want to be spoiled, let me warn you: keep away from ALL home sites with 'news'. Because the AOL home site had a spoiler thing (didn't read it) and the NY Times has already issued a review... all this because some stupid shipping company went against strict orders and started shipping books to bookstores, which started selling before 12.01 July 21st... so the internet, newspapers and most forms of communication aren't safe. lol.
Hugs, and good reading!

Amazon is pretty good about delivery. I bet it shows up on Saturday. Tomorrow I am going to see the movie and then go to a local bookstore to pick the new one up.

Seen the movie yet?

I saw it Sunday and really liked it a lot.

We saw it yesterday. It always cracks me up because the kids are far more critical then us grown-ups. We're all 'man, that was so cool' and they're all, 'yeah but why'd they do this or change that'. Far more critical.
