It is essential that all Americans see this today. So while it is all over my flist I am posting it here as well.

Happy fourth and a belated Happy Canada Day to my Canadian readers (and family, as I am Canadian American and proud of it.)
I am working today and I hope it's a quiet day. It's going to be boring, I'll be all by myself in the office from 8-4:30 so I'm bringing a book.

Keith is an eloquent guy. Speaks what I feel so much better than I could. It's hard to believe that I have more respect for Nixon than for Bush. I'm just thankful there are only 566 days left in his term. Although I fear what else he could do in that amount of time... or more rightly what Cheney will do since I believe he's the one driving the bus.

That speech was truly brilliant, accurate and definitely hit the nail on the head. I remember Watergate and the furor that this country went through and I truly believe that this is far worse and I'm deeply distressed. My only consolation is that I hope each of Bush's actions bury his party deeper into an abyss that they can not rise from.

Thank you for the link, I am going to send it to all the people I know.

What an eloquent speech, I am in awe. He said everything that sums up just how I feel about all this. I agree that both Bush and Cheney need to resign as if Cheney gets the Presidency...*shudder*

As Shadow said, I too, remember Nixon and Watergate. But, the sad thing is we had Katharine Graham, publisher, who allowed two reporters to break open the story or Nixon would have gotten away with it. Sadly, there are no Katharine Graham's of today. Keith IS wonderful. Hopefully, the chorus will grow. And, that will be a true testament of our great country.

We are blessed and there are many good things about our country (and our good Canadian friends as well). Let's rejoice in them!

Enjoy your slow day!

Very very powerful and very very true. I am planning on sending this out to more people. I know there is only a bit over a year left before Bush has to leave office but I too am very worried about what else can happen in that length of time. His commuting the sentence was not a surprise to me. How anyone, ANYONE can look at Bush, even those in his party, and not see someone who is only out for himself is beyond me. He is like a spoiled child who gathers all his toys to himself and hits anyone who tries to take one, without his permission. He will let someone play as long as they can do something for him. It is a sick nation we live in right now but I totally agree with Keith. I cannot stand Bush, I did not vote for him, but he is running MY country, for better or worse. However, these days lately are the first time I've EVER thought of what other country would I like to live in....

Thank you for posting this. Sometimes I think that it's a situation beyond hope, but I am encouraged that someone who has a voice is speaking for the rest of us. Molly Ivins did it as long as she could, but few listened. I'm sure there are others, and maybe they can hold on long enough for the rest of the country to believe that something can be done.

I would marry this man and have his babies.

Thank you for posting this. I honestly never thought I'd see Nixon as someone to look up to, to admire, but put in this context, it definitely gives one food for thought. I was watching Jay Leno the other day (it was a repeat) and he had a former Ms America (I think it was) on (she's in her 80s now, I think he said), and he asked her what she thought of Bush, and she said he was a spoiled little brat who needed a good whuppin'. I agree. But he needs more than that. I think that not only does he need to resign, he needs to leave political office completely, both he and Cheney, and never return. The damage they have done, not only to the state of the country as a whole, but to the morale of its people, is immeasurable.

Doesnt' Keith rock? I always appreciate his commentary, but this one was especially powerful.

Thanks for the tip on how to save your stories. I don't know why I didn't think of that...

Enjoy your reading. ;)
