I joined Weight Watchers (the online version) last Monday. So far so good. I enjoy the whole points thing. It's easy and you can eat whatever you want. The only problem is, I'm stuffed. Really. I feel like I'm eating more than ever. I have 9 points left to eat today and I'm not even a tiny bit hungry.

1/4 large cantaloupe
1/2 Weight Watcher Blueberry Muffin

Healthy Choice Turkey Breast
2 slices 100% whole wheat bread
1 Tbsp fat-free ranch salad dressing
lettuce, tomato

1 small whole wheat pita
Gardenburger Original Veggie Burger
fat-free ranch salad dressing
1/2 oz. 2% cheddar
Tossed Salad

3 Oreo golden uh-oh with chocolate creme sandwich cookies
1 cup 2% reduced fat milk
(This last bit in an effort to use up some points and because I needed a dairy for the day.)

I've lost 4 1/5 lbs though so I guess it's working.

I've joined WW three times and I lose weight every time. The last two have been useless though because I'd signed up when I just wasn't ready to diet, but the first time was excellent. I needed to lose some weight for my brother's wedding and I did, but after his wedding was over I got really slack. Biggest mistake ever!

WW is definitely one of the better and more sensible diet plans (or should I say "change of lifestyle" plans) out there, so best of luck with it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just make sure you're honest with yourself - I assume you don't go in somewhere to get weighed if you're doing the online version? It sure is convenient, but having to go face someone every week is a good incentive. I've tried the home one before and not having to face someone each week sometimes gets you off track a bit. I'm sure that won't be the case with you but it's something to keep in mind anyway.

I'm lucky in that I work with my friends and they all know I'm doing it so that will help. I tend to be pretty honest with myself but only time will tell. I agree with what you said about being ready for it. I feel as though I am. There was a time that I was so thin it was scary and I swore Id rather be fat than go through that again. I still don't ever want to be that thin again but I have got to lose some weight. I'm tired of not being able to wear what I want. Not to mention being unfit, which bothers me even more.

ive thought about joining but never wanted to do the weekly meeting things. Maybe I'll check out the online version.

I'm with you, I didn't like the idea of weekly meetings either. I'm really enjoying the on-line version. It makes it really easy to keep track of what you're eating and how many points you're using. Also it's really flexible. You get extra points to use during the week at your discretion (if you want to go out to eat or whatever) and you also earn points by working out or walking or whatever. I haven't felt hungry or deprived at all. I can eat pretty much whatever I want as long as I stay withing my points range. I could have had a bowl of ice cream last night if I'd been hungry enough to eat it.

that definitely sounds like something I'd be willing to try out! Thanks for all the info :)

I'm toying with the idea of joining NeutraSystems or JennyCraig for a few months to jump start my weight loss, then going to WW. I think WW is the best choice in the long term because it is about a lifestyle change. However, I need something that will force me to reassess what a portion really is. I think the NeutraSystem or JennyCraig could do that for me. I haven't decided yet. I do know that I don't like not being able to wear what I want or need feeling fit.

Are those plans where you buy their food? That would probably help with the portion size. I'm just being really careful to read what the portion size is for what I am eating and then measuring it. If it says 1 Tbsp, then I get out my measuring spoons. It helps that I already own a food scale since I'm a fairly serious cook.

Yeah, you have to buy their food. Although, the smart thing to do would be to buy the frozen WW food and stick with that for a month.

I HATE having to measure stuff. If I have to measure, I won't do it. Needless to say, I don't bake. That's why I need a visual reference for portion size. I'm not going to measure. Visual is the only way for me.

That's great! Not that you need to feel more full (since you're already looking to eat more, LOL) but for anyone else reading this, if you eat more fibre first (say whole grain bread with flax instead of just whole wheat or "brown" bread), which for most adults would be maximum 35 grams per day, then eat the less healthy stuff afterwards, you will actually only absorb about 25% of the "junk". And you will feel more full. You have to be careful, though, because too much fibre added too quickly to one's diet can lead to bloating, gas and diarrhea. Drink lots of water and add the grains gradually.

Awesome! I love WW and I've done the online program twice and loved it. If you need links for point values @ restaurants and for frozen food, I have them. :)

The site I used most was this one (http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html). It's nothing if not... colorful, but they have almost 500 restaurants on there! And the info. is paired with nutritional facts, too, so you get a good feel for what's what.

I'm looking for my other links, but I knew that one by heart.

:)

That site has great information but it makes my eyes hurt!

I know, mine too. I bookmarked the individual restaurants that I frequent because they're in a very sedate black text. The ads alone make everything blurry. :)

sorry to butt in, but I just checked out that site and it's very informative. Are the last numbers the point values or am i just missing them?

Yep! The last, bolded numbers are the point values. :)

I decided against WW and did the diet on my own. Last time I lost 36 pounds (within a year) and now (since april) I Lost 27.

It was easy because I was ready to reduce everything and do some exercise.

WW is good when you don“t want to be alone during the diet-time but I think when you are realy raedy you can do it on your own (and save money! ;O)).

Best wishes to you!!!

I'm at that point. Also WW is good for me because it's helping me make healthy choices. I'm not actually eating much differently than I was before, I'm just eating healthier versions.

That's exactly how I felt when I first joined. I found that I was drinking so much water and eating so many fruits and vegetables that I didn't want to eat anything more, but I'd still have 8 or 9 points left at the end of the day! But whatever, 42 lbs later it's still working!
