I'm going out to dinner with friends tonight. While I was getting ready I remembered I forgot to tell you (as if any of you really care) about my social disaster yesterday.

Cast of characters:
Quinn - that would be me.
J--- - guy I work with, not to be confused with
J, another guy I work with who has the same name as a certain Blond Boy on a TV show.
B - Guy who asked me out without ever seeing me.
K - freind and co-worker
S - friend and co-worker
T - friend and co-worker

Remember that I told you a customer, whom we will call 'B', had asked me out? It has to do with that. I have never met this guy ever, but we talk on the phone a couple of times a week. Yesterday morning I get to work and one of the first people that I see is J---. He always teases me about B because before he called and asked me out J--- was at his house and he asked J--- if I was married. Of course it's a small company and we all get along so I have pretty much been teased unmercifully all week about this. It might help to know that we have a rule in the office, only one practical joke a day. That's the kind of place it is. So yesterday morning J--- says to me, "Hey Quinn, I saw B in the grocery store this morning and I told him to come on over and see you and I told him where the office is." Hahaha very funny. It's 7:00am, WTH would B be doing in the supermarket at 7:00am?

About an hour later, K comes back to my desk and says, "OMG! B is up front asking for you!"

I was sure it was a practical joke that they had all cooked up. She swore it wasn't and it became frighteningly apparent that she was telling the truth. It was FRIDAY. I was wearing old jeans. A baggy white t-shirt that had the sole saving grace of having lace on the bottom of it. Not a lick of make-up on my face (I always give it a rest on Fridays) and my hair just hanging down. OMG. Every man's worst nightmare. I grabbed some MAC powder out of my bag and powdered my nose but there wasn't much else I could do. So I go up to the front to meet this guy (wearing my Crocs flip flops for God's sake!). He was very sweet. Gave me back the Deadwood DVD I had loaned him (J--- had taken it out to him on a service call), we chit chatted for a few minutes and he left. Meanwhile the three people in the front office are all studiously trying to look busy. He goes out the door and S starts singing, "Quinn has a boyfriend! Quinn has a boyfriend!" Did I mention that we are really mature?

So I endured that for a few minutes and was feeling relieved figuring he'll drop the whole 'go out for a drink' thing now that he's seen me at my most hideous. I told them all that too. Just as I was telling them this T came up and handed me a note. "This is B's cell phone number, he just called and wants you to call him back."

I was sure this was the practical joke, that it was really J's cell phone or something. Took her a while to convince me that it wasn't. So I got to call him back with just about everyone in my entire office huddled around me (just like high school!) and he reinterated the invitation.

Oh, BTW he was very nice. Very tall, nice looking, my age or a bit older. Maybe I'll take him up on it. I don't think my friends will give me any choice.

Now I'm going out to dinner with all my friends and they will no doubt give me a hard time over this.

What a fun story.

He sounds like a nice guy and your office sounds like a great place to work.

I look forward to more chapters!

You should definitely go out with him. Look at it as a free drink or meal and that way you don't expect much from the start. If things end up leading to another...YAY!

Have fun and ENJOY!!!

Aww, the chance of a new relationship. I hope this turns out well for you. Even if you two aren't suited as a couple, hopefully you'll get a good friend out of it. :)
