Good morning,
I've got the day off today to go to the allergist for the scratch test. I'm kind of nervous about it, this doesn't really sound like a good time.

I'm sad that the guys are going to be separated for a while, but I love that we'll get e-mails and communication between them for us to read.

Also, I had to get an allergy scratch test when I was a kid, and I remember being nervous but then relived because it wasn't bad at all. Good luck!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they can figure out what's what.

Scratch tests are nothing, more a pain in the ass than anything. Don't worry about it - hopefully you'll come away from it with good information.

Thanks for the reassurance. Does it hurt the next day? I'm kind of worried about it because, inlike Justin, I really am ambidextrous. I use one hand for somethings and the other for other things. I don't really have an arm I don't use for them to work on!

Depending on how many they're testing, they might do it on your cak. Usually it's in your arm for just a few, at least in my experience (and trust me, do I have experience). They just do a small scratch (hence the name) to expose your system to the allergen. You wait a while and then they return to record any reactions and the severity of them. That's it. No residual effects at all.

cak = back, lol.

That makes me feel way better. The back would be easier than the arm.

Oh! I think I mentioned this before but watch out for cochineal extract.

I have a lot of allergies, and had 60 scratch tests done at once! (I was allergic to 33!) They did it on my back, and I was fine right after. I took an allergy pill (Allegra) as soon as the test was done, and that did the trick. Benadryl works great too. No itching that night or even the next day. They are not putting a huge amount of anything into you. Just a small amount to see what you react to, and then they gauge the reaction on a scale of 0-4, 4 being the most reaction. I had a lot of those! I've been taking allergy shots for a couple of years now, and that really helps.

Hope it all works out for you!

Tami

Thanks for letting me know how it works. I tend to fear the unknown. If I know what to expect then I do okay.

Awwwww...good luck with the allergy test!

And lovely post, as always. :x:x:x

I always thought Brett was a moron...and now he's separating B/J AGAIN! At least now I'm confident that they're together for good and that distance can't possibly mess them up.

(sorry, clicked too soon)

BTW--I've had scratch testing done. While it's a bit uncomfortable, it was more important finding out that I was so allergic to bee stings that I needed to start carrying an epi-pen. *HUGS*

Although I hate the separation but, as lit_writergirl said, it is a great opportunity for some 'Correspondence' and I do like the fact that Brett call's upon Justin to fix things

That's a very "glass is half-full" way of looking at it, and I think ITA with looking forward to the opportunity to have some good Correspondence!

I had scratch tests on my arms and while a few of them itched during and a little while after the tests it was fine once I took an allergy pill.

Justin knows exactly how to talk to Brian.

You'll be OK on the tests, it is more the dread than the actual happenings.

Hmmmm, interesting turn having Justin leave for California, but I loved the "potential clients" dig at the end of the postcard.

Quick question: what month is it in Quinnverse? I'm guessing still June, but I could be wrong. *reads way too many different fic 'verses at once*

That's a beautiful picture. =)

Good luck at the doctor, and may nothing be too scratchy on your back!

Quick question: what month is it in Quinnverse?

It's the middle of June, so Justin will be back in two weeks or so and then will go back to LA for a few weeks.

Oh my god!!! I hate when Justin is away for extended periods of time... and oh yeah, in this world, Rage got made and was successful. It was so long ago that it's hard to remember!

So I just went back and looked at some of the earlier Summer posts to try to find out the date of Jennifer's wedding, and I didn't see it. I want to know how long Justin is going to be gone! Obviously it's not July 4th yet, so it will be at least a month.
