I thought Gale did a great job, too bad about the hair but the body more than made up for it. Since I've never watched this show I was pretty confused about what was going on.

Who were those guys with the torches at the end?

I am wondering the same thing, who are those guys?
Gale wasn't in the previews for next week, so is he on again that episode or the following?
Gale looked gorgeous, loved the clothes, the longish jacket...the hair was flat but... hey he did have a great glint in his eyes in a couple scenes...overall impressed with his work there.

I have watched the show for two years and I have no idea what is going on this season. It's absolutely awful. Were it not for Gale's appearance I would have stopped watching a few weeks ago.

I thought Gale did a great job with this role. It takes a actor with extreme facial expressions to hold their own with the locals on Deadwood. I think it's because their faces are so hairy and dirty most of the time. I also think that Gale is perfect in the role of protective big brother. Morgan is an idiot. I believe in real life Morgan Earp was killed in a gun fight shortly after this stint of time in Deadwood.

He was killed years later in Tombstone, Arizona, a
while after the OK Corral shoot out.

I've watched from the begiing too and I'm loving this season. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the theater troop, but I kinda know why they are there.

It was the eye gouging episode that got me. The theater troup stuff is pretty long and drawn out. But since they play a part in the upcoming events it's important to know their story.

Those guys were the muscle that George Hearst hired. Apparently he's making a play to 'take over' Deadwood.

I have no idea what the story is about and I don't watch the show except for this Sunday and next, but I thought he was really, really good. He got lots of screen time, too.

There has been a power struggle in Deadwood. Those are men that Hearst hired to strong arm the locals. It was intersting that they arrived with torches because it is rumored that Deadwood will burn in the series finale. Never fear because they are supposed to be making a Deadwood movie/mini series. It would be nice if Wyatt Earp gets into the movie too.

Oh that's right, Deadwood! I didn't see it yet due to my lack of HBO, but perhaps someone will post a copy of it... or maybe I can bring back the hub...

Those are Hearst men. Throughout the episode he keeps saying he's waiting for something. Also last week Blazarov, the telegram operator warned Al (Ian McShane) that Hearst had recieved a telegram saying he was expecting a shipmen of 25 bricks. They all knew the bricks were really Hearts's re-enforcements. Hearst plans to burn Deadwood to the ground.
