Go Jamie's dad! Seriously, if as many men/fathers/husbands articulated their feelings into words onto a page instead of fists into a face, wouldn't the world be much better?
I suspect that I wasn't the only person here fearing the worst - I am so happy to have been proven wrong :-)

I have that story in print somewhere. I used to use it a lot in early intervention. SO glad that Jamie's dad is not like Craig or Jack.
It really is a wonderful analogy about how life just isn't always going to follow your plan but that that doesn't mean the new plan is a bad one, it's just a new one.
Great entry, great way to show that even religious people can accept their gay children, by the way: "Greetings from Holland", I never heard the story about planning to go to Italy and ending up in Holland, but the Netherlands (as Holland is officially called) is a great place to live (see adventures 127, http://quinn.webaxxs.net/as/pages/as127.htm )
Whew!! I'm definitely liking Jamie's dad more now than I did yesterday. lol Sure wish other parents could find it in their hearts to be accepting. Lovely post, Quinn.
This entry really choked me up. I was given that Holland story more than once over the years as well as a few others (re: my beautiful son ♥).
In addition, as a bible thumper, I'm sure Jamie's father knows of the interpretation of Isaac...that he was mentally challenged which is why he was easily swayed and others selected a wife for him.
I think you've handled this storyline beautifully.
Too bad the boys' dads couldn't have understood this and chose to love them for who they were, not who they wanted the boys to be. (well, in Jack's case- he'd have had to do the loving in the first place.
I promise, no kitties were hurt in the making of that pic, LOL. Look up "Painted Cats"- it's a book. Don't think my 23 pound Maine Coon would sit still for that, I can hardly get him to stay still long enough to clip his nails, but guess some cats would.
Im so glad that Brian and the bodyguards werent necessary. And Im am so happy that we finally have a character whose father loves him. Until just now, I dont think Ive ever actually thought about that. hmmm.

It sure is.

I didn't want him to take the knee jerk emotional response.

He's a nice man and a good Dad. At least one of them deserved that. Of course they all deserved it but sadly didn't get it.

Thank you so much. I really really wanted to show the other side of fatherhood. What we got in canon was pretty one sided.

It was past time. I've always wondered about Ted's dad. He's the only one we've never really had any clue about.

I'm so happy we finally have a character who believes in God, who sees God's will in the problem, not just in the solution!

It was really important to me to have someone who was religious and not using that in a terrible way. Not all religious people are hateful.

I had thought about it and I really wanted to introduce a truly loving father.

No!!!
