This was great-- my aunt and her partner are going through the same thing right now-- what a nightmare! I get so upset thinking about this issue so I'm very glad you've given it some attention. And of course, yay to a domestic partnership between these two!
That sounds just like our boys. LOL. Take the issues and splash with alcohol. :)
I love that though, Brian to consider domestic partnership - I figure that's got to open a whole new can of worms considering the failed marriage attempt.... eek!
Been a while since I commented but have been reading religiously and loving every entry.
I went back and perused Correspondence last week and decided that I need to take a vacation so that I can sit down and reread the entire journey. That will be my vacation. Then I'll reread Adventures and pretend I'm on a real vacation.
Thank you for sticking with this, for being so creative and gifted in your storytelling, and for bringing us an amazing B/J.
My daughter follows 'Changes' as avidly as I do, and loved especially the boys' holiday in DisneyWorld. The truly loves the maips, especially when Gus is in them!
On asking what today's entry was, she opened a discussion on same-sex marriages and rights. The UK sanctioned civil partnership last December but Ireland as yet is afraid to broach that topic. She also commented on Canada's approval of gay marriage but we discussed the fact that a Canadian marriage was not recognised in the US, but that domestic partnerships were possible in some states.
Thank you for provoking such an interesting discussion - she is nearly 11,and she knows that some of our friends are gay and is supportive of them. I'm very proud to have such an intelligent and tolerant daughter...

You're welcome and you are right to be proud of her!
well well well. a domestic partnership eh? that sounds good. that line in the beginning, "that makes us idiots" cracked me up for some reason and i thought id tell you. lol this was good chapter, v. informative for them. and me i suppose
Great post Quin, this really made me grateful to be living in the Netherlands, one of the very few countries where the real 'normal' marriage is open for 'same sex couples' (which I have been enjoying for some years now) Maybe they should migrate to Amsterdam.......

So can I now that you point it out! lol

That was one loaded journal entry/experience! Wow!

It was probably an uncomfortable meeting for them!

Go Tom!
If I were Clare, you betcha I would come after Kinnetik. It's not as if I had any love for Gus and Justin, nor do I cared to know them.

As far as we know she doesn't even know Gus exists and given Justin's role in exposing John as a liar she probably has no fondness for him.

Poor boys got an eye opener. But yay to Domestic Partnership!
(no subject)
They sure did.

They didn't have any real reasons to get married, but they certainly have reasons to do this!

They sure do!

Remember though that in my little world there was no failed marriage attempt. My fics started after S4 and S5 never happened.

Although it's kinda sad that they have to do it to "protect" themselves from their crappy families (and society in general) :|

It is sad.

I can't wait to see where this goes.

I may join you, I'm feeling the need for a vacation very badly today but mine isn't until December!

What a great post. Adult life just hit them with a clue bus.

Exactly. It would be Terry Schiavo all over again with the gay angle thrown in.
