You get points for calling before you started to dig and having a survey crew mark with little orange flags where you should not dig. However, this same thing is causing you to lose major points for your apparent understanding of what a line of orange flags means. I can totally see how you might think it would be okay to dig precisely between two of these flags. Thus cutting right through our fiber. Really. It makes perfect sense IF YOU"RE AN ABSOLUTE FUCKING MORON!!!!

You may now explain to an entire community why they no longer have telephone and internet service. I might add that the firefighters are particularly ticked off about not getting any alarms just now and would probably cheerfully rip your head off. Or worse.

Dear flist,
One of these days I will have time to respond to comments. Really. But please don't stop commenting because I'm so rude. I really do read and appreciate every one.

I do not mean to trivialize your hardship.
However it's am opportunity (at your expense) to
remember once again that we live in country
with things so fucked up that cutting the connections
for essential services is what people are more likely
than not to do..They do it in the schools, in the hospitals,
in the envioronment, and now, unfortunately, on your street.
Maye somebody will come and do a film..Sarah

Happily for me they didn't cut the fiber on my street. A different crew cut through my sprinkler system but they also notified us they were going to and they fixed it later. This crew cut through the fiber that belongs to the company that I work for. We provide those essential servies. And of course we get the outraged phone calls and our guys are still out there trying to restore service.

That happened to me this summer; our phone was out for only a couple of hours, but our internet was down for more than 2 weeks. There was some suggestion from what my dad knew from a different construction company that the workers deliberately cut through our line out of spite for our service provider. I hope, though, that everything gets sorted out quickly so that your clients will stop sending you angry phone calls!
