[livejournal.com profile] suzzanne gave me a book of creme brulee recipes for Christmas. I tried it out today with yummy results! And I didn't even set my kitchen on fire.

Now I'm hungry. I'm so glad you like the book and are putting it to good use. Now if I only lived close enough to you to personally benefit from it. lol

My whole family just gobbled it right up, even the kids. Though the fact that they saw me putting a blowtorch to it probably gave them incentive to try it.

Now you have to get a blowtorch!

Ted Allen says it's perfect for creme brulee!

It is! I have a small kitchen torch and that's what I used for the caramelized tops. It worked like a charm.

That looks yummy. I'd love to try making it myself sometime, although I suppose I'll have to invest in a blowtorch, hehe.

I think the prettiest creme brulee I ever had was at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant (http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a43/asm614Vegas/CremeBrulee.jpg) in the Paris Hotel/Casino here in Vegas. But Re: the cookbook you got - I never realized how versatile a dessert it is!

It wasn't at all complex to make and you can get a little kitchen torch for about twenty bucks in most kitchen catalogs. Worth every penny.

I think the best creme brulee I ever had was the triple one that I had when we went to North 44 that time in Toronto. Remember that night?...LOL..I recall you sitting there with a plate of foie gras and a glass of good wine with this look of bliss on your face..LOL. My creme brulee that night was 3 little pots of it. Coffee, plain and a lemon/raspberry one...*drools at the fond memory*

I had an interesting eggnog one at California Grill last week, it was good but I wasn't sure that I really liked it.

If I'm not mistaken didn't you have creme brulee for lunch that day too? At that french place we went to? I had berries for desert at North 44 but I sampled everyone else's stuff :-)

LOL..yes. It was the two of us and SF and we went to that little place, I think it was called Le Bistro Select on Queen Street West, where we had to pull the bread basket down from the ceiling on a chain. The food was good there too.

I can never have too much creme brulee. Or flan for that matter..LOL
