We had a really nice day today. It was fun and relaxing and we even guilted one of the men into doing the diner dishes. The fact that he managed to break a glass, put all the good knives into the dishwasher and then (in an entirely unrelated matter) managed to break the dishwasher was fine. At least someone else was doing the dishes.

So on the family togetherness front the day was perfect. On the gifts, not so much. But that's okay, there isn't a whole lot that I want or need.


I received:

1 - A book I already had
2 - Perfume which I will never wear because I hate wearing perfume
3 - A handbag I'll never carry, it's not my style
4 - A beautiful cashmere sweater that's the wrong size and which I can't exchange because all the tags were cut off of it.
5 - A bracelet and earrings. I may wear the earrings now and then. I won't wear the bracelet because I find them uncomfortable when I'm working.
6 - 2 gift certificates which I will happily use.
7 - a book that I didn't have and am looking forward to reading
8 - The new Prince of Persia for PS2 and the game guide. I already started playing this one.



I'm very lucky to have a big, close family that enjoys being together and has fun and laughs together. At risk of sounding very schmoopy that really is the best gift. When this Christmas comes up it wont be the fact that the sweater didn't fit that I'll remember. It will be 10 members of my family crammed into my kitchen staring at my dishwasher like a bunch of QaF fans watching ep 110 hotel sex. I laughed so hard my face hurts and I got pictures no one outside my family will ever understand. They drive me crazy but I love them.
