For some bizarre reason I don't have phone but I do have internet. Since I have DSL I'm not sure how that's happening.
We had power but not water at work. Also phones were only partly there and there was no internet. Made for a very long, dull day. On the drive to and from work it was necessary to avoid the right hand lane. If you were in that lane you found yourself in mile long gas lines at every gas station. Many trees were down and most of the traffic lights (which, thank God were working) had only one temporary fixture on them.
With any luck I'll still have internet tomorrow.

Maybe they forgot to take into consideration that you have to budget your water to include things like washing the dishes, cooking, etc.
When Rita came through we didn't have water for four days, and it wasn't until very recently that it was deemed clean enough to be potable even when boiled.
*shrugs*
Then again it might just be a case of teh stupids. :P
Talk radio up here....
We learned last year when Charley came through. Even though we were only out of power for 16 hours, that was 16 hours of misery in very hot, humid conditions where no one was able to sleep all night. So this time, we made sure we had at least 3 gallons of drinking water for each person in the house and some extra for the animals.
