Here's that Real Life Post I threatened you with.

Happy Birthdays!
I seem to have missed some birthdays this week, I'm sorry!
Happy Late Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] kitkatbyte and to [livejournal.com profile] reboot_wlm, and, just to be sure I'm not late, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero!

Today is my kitty, Dandy's, Birthday. He's five.

Job is going well but I'm finding that it presents a whole new set of things to deal with. For one thing, since I have a desk and a chair, I'm sitting too much. I have got to get more exercise. Also, it apparently involves certain social events. I knew (because people were talking about it) that there was going to be a holiday party. Now it turns out there is also going to be a cocktail party in October. Oh, and a casual get together of most of us at the office with a gift exchange. I was wondering WTH to get as a gift exchange for the very diverse group of people involved but that was answered for me when it was mentioned that booze is the most popular gift. I bought an outfit for the cocktail party today. Macy's is having a sale.

On Thursday we had a company wide meeting with a VIP. Considering what we do is pretty complex and on a fairly large scale there really aren't that many of us. So there isn't anywhere to hide in such a meeting. VIP (it turns out) likes to make eye contact with one person for the entire time he talks. Guess who got the honor this time? Sheesh. On the other hand, because there aren't too many of us (yet) I get to hear and learn things that I would never ever hear about in a larger company.

Let's see, what else...
Oh. On Tuesday my mother is having an operation. It's not as serious as the last one but I'm concerned. Mostly because she didn't handle the anesthesia well last time. In fact she stopped breathing in the recovery room that time. I took the day off and my sister took the week off so we'll be able to be with her when she comes home as well as in the hospital (supposed to be two nights at the most.) My dad is in NY (because someone designed a lovely bridge that can't actually be built) and we aren't sure he's going to be home. Since he's the single most high maintenance human being on the planet we're kind of hoping that he'll wait until next weekend to come home.

Speaking of family, my mom, sister and I are going to Epcot to see the Christmas thing that they have in December. I'm very excited about it. It's only one night but I so need to get away. It's not actually all that far from me but I never go there. Ever. Now we have actual paid for hotel reservations so we'll go.

I went to Barnes and Noble today and bought six books. I hope I like them. I've bought some really awful ones lately.

Guess that's it. I'm sure there's other stuff but I'm tired and I can't think of it.

I don't know bout you but since I tend to read a ton Barnes an Noble is way overpriced for me even Costco is too much I discovered the Literary Guild and the Mystery guild join em both take all the free books you can (ok so they are like a few bucks plus shipping still $20 is way cheaper then the $ 90 they could have been. Oh yeah after the really cheap ones books are only about $12.99 a piece and they offer free or almost free shipping all the time sometimes they even offer $.99 books so worth it. But since I buy now in such mass quanity I have 7 books sitting here to read. Maybe I should get off the puter now............

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!

That VIP at your meeting sounds creepy. If someone was staring at me for an entire meeting, I'd get all paranoid about it.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! *hugs* I really appreciate it!

I hope your new books are good, too. I hate it when I read a bunch of not-so-good books. It's depressing and feels like I've wasted time and money. Let me know if anything knocks your socks off.
