A few days ago (maybe a week) I posted about buying the book "The 3 A.M. Epiphany", which is a book of "Uncommon writing exercises." I haven't finished reading it and haven't had a chance to do any of the exercises yet but this one intrigued me. I figured I'd post it on the off chance some of you might want to try and and then I'd benefit by getting to read them.
quote from the book:
Take the full name (including middle name) of someone you love. Write down as many words from this name as you can. You can repeat letters from the name as many times as you wish. Treat the letters of this name as the only letters in a new alphabet. You cannot use any words containing letters that do not exist in this name. Because this is so difficult, you'll probably be able to come up with only about 200 words for this exercise - that's okay. When you have built a sufficient list of words (maybe breaking the list down into nouns, verbs, adverbs etc.), write a fragment of fiction that has to do with a fictional situation this person, or someone like this person, would be invloved in. 300 words.
...If you have built up a strong relationship with a fictional character in your long story, you may simply use that character's full name in place of someone you love. But it would be better to someone you love, because this exercise can otherwise be a little bland without the added spice of affection for the words themselves. This exercise often yields unexpected results if you are patient.

The author then goes on to say that he did this and din't like the result but when he revisited what he'd written some time later he found that it was actually far better than he had thought.
Anyone care to take up the challenge and try this with a QAF character? You'll have to provide a middle name of course but it might be fun and it would certainly be challenging.
ETA: So if I was going to use Brian for this I'd need to add a middle name. Canon suggests his middle name begins with 'A'. Lots of people use Aidan for this and while I love the name I can't see his parents choosing it. Given his age and his parents I think Andrew is most likely, though Anthony is possible but not as likely. So, going with Andrew I'd have only the following letters to work with:
briandwkey
Anyone know Justin's middle name?

I could be wrong here, but I thought Aidan was canon. I thought that's what Debbie called him when she's talking to him at Woody's about how he really loves Justin the "this kids gotten in under the wire" scene. Can't search for it now, and I might be totally off anyway.
Was Justin's middle initial on his driver's license? It's no longer on ebay, but maybe someone's got a picture of it.

I did some research and watched that ep again (what a sacrifice *grin*) and I didn't hear Deb using Brian's full name in that scene at Woody's. So I think Aidan's just a name that stuck, created by a few fanfic writers.
If we're going with Brian Aidan Kinney, that leaves us with briandkey.
Who's up for a game of Boggle? :)
