Um?

I very rarely emerge from the safe little world of my LJ, but I've heard a rumour I find hard to believe. Are the B/M contingent under the impression that Brian somehow ended up with Michael? Or did I just run across one delusional fan who didn't actually watch 513?

I have no problem with people who want to write non-canon B/M and find joy in that. I just don't get where anyone thinks it actually happened.

ETA: And let's not start a wank over this. I'm just curious if that's what's happening in certain circles.

I wouldn't be suprised, but where did you read that?

I saw it a nice person't LJ who just happens to be a B/M fan. At first I thought she was joking but now I'm wondering if she's actually serious.

I'm sorry. I wasn't asking to start any wanking, I was just kinda interested in seeing the post that somehow explains it. At this point, I don't think it even matters anymore. The show is over and we can all just write whatever fic we want.

I've never understood B/Mers. Are they even watching the same show as me?

right after the finale, I wandered into a post from a B/M-er that was na-na-na-na-na-na We Win! and lots of other (hurtful and hateful) thoughts about Michael and Brian actually ending up together that I felt were completely divorced from reality.

So, I'm inclined to belive there are those out there that believe the same.

Just to clarify: what I've seen is that some B/Mers have declared themselves the "winners" of the B/M versus B/J contest because Justin has left Pittsburgh and Brian and Michael shared the last dance and last kiss (though, in actuality, the last person *Michael* kissed and danced with was Ben, but that little detail seems to have fallen into the fandom cracks.)

Basically, some are gloating about Brian not marrying or going off with Justin and therefore the field is wide open for Brian and Michael to hook up (if you ignore the pesky marriage/adoption thing). Most fans are actually reasonable and are just happy that Brian and Michael are friends to the end and don't feel the need to dance on the proverbial grave of the B/J ship.

And the last person Brian danced with was Emmett. Or did they miss that great bit after the credits? Everyone knows it B/E forever!

I'm still holding out for Brian/Ted and their improbable love.

Brian + Ted = Bed!

That can't just be a coincidence.

That's what I said. If you want to get technical folks, QAF ended with Emmett and Brian locked together. It makes about as much sense as the rest of it.

Some are focusing on the kiss at Babylon as confirmation that their ship won the war (had icons and everything); others are gloating over B/J not ending the series together, but not necessarily viewing the ending as a B/M one.

Ah well, if it makes them happy, why not? As I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] chase820 the last embrace/dance was between Brian and Emmett, so clearly, it B/E forever :-)

The answer to your question is yes. There are some Brian and Michael shippers who believe that with Justin off to start his 'real life' in NY, and Ben infected with HIV (ergo, doomed to die of AIDS), that these two will eventually hook up as it was always meant to be.

I know. There are no words...

They're hoping Ben will die??? They think Michael is just waiting for him to take his last breath so he can take off with Brian? Wow. You're right, there are no words. That's just....profoundly disturbing. I mean, these aren't real people but the idea that some of the B/Mers think that one of their fave characters was so rotten that he's just sitting around waiting for his husband to die of AIDS so he can be with his "one true love" is just very evil. Yikes.

I saw some BM fic to that effect one time. It was a little more subtle than that but not much.

I don't think they are "hoping" Ben will die, nor are they suggesting that Michael is sitting around waiting for that to happen either, at least not at a conscious level. I think what they are saying (and I can't believe I'm actually trying to get inside their heads and explain this, LOL) is that Brian and Michael's destiny has always been to end up together, even if it's as two old queens living in Miami à la Birdcage, LOL. So Michael will possibly live with Ben for years to come, with Hunter in their care, and eventually, *someday*, he and Brian will be able to consummate their romantic relationship. Okay now I must stop before I make myself ill.

Heather :)

I have heard that there are some BMers who feel that the last scene indicates that eventually Brian will be with Michael. That lingering kiss and the fact that Justin is not there in the last scene.

As far as I'm concerned, it's not that much of a stretch. It saddens me to say this, and I never thought I would, but B/Jers who believe that Brian and Justin are still a couple shouldn't be throwing stones at B/Mers. Yeah, our couple was canon for nearly five years, but with this ending, all bets are off.

Yeah, I'm a bitter Brianite. So what? *g*

That is so funny. I guess people always like to twist things their own way. My comfort (besides analyzing the episode to death when I do the commentary) is that Cowlip actually said, recently, that (paraphrasing) B/J will always be together--their relationship is beyond the physical.

Speaking of twisting things, what Cowen said was that B/J would always share a bond. "Together" didn't enter into it.

No, you're not wrong. There are a lot of B/M fans who see an open ending, which makes sense to me. But there are a handful of loud ones who say they "won" because Brian and Michael got the last kiss. It's pretty ridiculous, especially since a number of them go on and on about how the B/J fans are crazy for thinking Justin and Brian are together.

The way I see it, Michael married Ben, adopted Hunter, and he's really really not one to stray. He loves Ben in a way I don't think he does Brian anymore. And, well, I'm sure you can imagine what I think about Brian and Justin :)

I figure its all a matter of opinion, which is I guess one of the good parts of the ending for all ships--you can take the future wherever you want. I just think its crazy for them to say the won.

You are right. The B/Mers are rejoicing. I remember reading one lj where this girl made a whole lot of icons celebrating the ending for being a B/M one. She believes that B/M had the last kiss and therefore B/Mers had the last say.

I just laughed. What can you do? Argue with the deluded?

She believes that B/M had the last kiss and therefore B/Mers had the last say.

Once again, didn't want the episode. Ben/Michael had the last kiss, Brian/Emmett had the last dance. But you have to feel sorry for them. Their pairing was pretty much totally written out of canon by the end of S1.

As far as I am concerned, Brian ended up alone, regardless of his existing Pittsburgh family.

Frankly, B/M shippers are highly delusional. Did they not see the nostalgic restaurant scene? It screamed nothing-will-ever-happen-between-these-two-ever!
