A few minutes ago I went to ask my dad if he had a book that I wanted to read. For those who don't know it or may have forgotten, he lives here. As in, in this house. Anyway, he didn't know where the book was. I walked back to my room. My cell phone rang. It was my dad, telling me that the book was on the dining room table. I don't live in a big house. It's not that far from one room to the next.

Technology has gone too far. Way too far.

I do get that. I'm visitng my best friend and her and her roommate talk on IM even though they are only one room away from each other. It's insane!

That's too funny. Sometimes when my daughter and I are both on our computers, mine in the den, on my lap, and hers in her room (we have a small house) she'll IM me if she has a question. "Technology has gone too far." Amen! (But I still love my computer - LOL) ;b

we live in an apartment, and my mom does it all the time:) i guess she just doesn't like making that 20ft trip from the living room to my room.

Heh...my first year in college, my roommate and I would routinely be sitting at our desks, not 7 feet from each other, and we'd IM each other because we were to lazy to talk or turn around to see each other.

I do that! There are four of us in a small farm house, and we all have nextels so it's not uncommon to hear beeping when all of us are home.

My mother is that lazy, one time I was sitting in the living room reading and my phone went off, it was her text messaging me to come to the kitchen which was no less than 4 feet away from where I was sitting. WE live in a tiny ass apartment. I cracked up. This is what we've come too, LOL

That's just hysterical! I don't think this would happen with my parents as they can never seem to find their phone - land line or cell. They do like to yell from other rooms - unfortunately when I answer back they can't hear me and then they get mad that I'm ignoring them. Yet they still wonder why I don't visit frequently. lol I understand where Larry David got the story lines for Jerry's parents on Seinfeld - from his own parents.

yeah. my little sister calls me in my basement living area from her bedroom, which is directly above me. and we can totally even hear each other yelling, so it wouldn't be that hard.. but no, cell phones. or IM. wtf. :)

lol! I know what you mean. My roomie used to IM questions to me from across the room. I would just yell the answer back to her.

Not much different from me and my dad Skyping each other when I was in the basement and he was one floor above me. ;)
