Yesterday I took a ride to the place where I have the job interview. I wanted to find out exactly how to get there and see how long it will take. It's an easy drive and only takes about 25 minutes. It looks like it would be a nice area to work in. There isn't a lot there yet but tons of construction is going on. As my mother pointed out if I get this job I will probably have a chair. There are no chairs at Blockbuster. You go there and you spend all day standing on a concrete floor. We even eat lunch standing up most days because the only place to sit is in our cars and it's too hot to sit out there. It's no wonder I'm so tired when I get home from work.

Also I have to go to the Social Security Office. Remember that file cabinet that my dad threw out? It had my Social Security card, birth certificate, passport etc. in it. In fact all the important family papers were in it. So now I have to replace my social security card ASAP since I may be switching jobs.

Dandy is going for a haircut this morning. I hate when he is not in the house, even though I'll be at work. I have to drop him off in about an hour. Has anyone had their pet chipped? I keep thinking I should have him chipped since he wont wear a collar but I worry about some unknown side effect or whatever.

Two of my cats are chipped (they don't go outside, but they do go to shows and it's required) and there haven't been any side effects. Sofie has a little bump on her ear from where the chip is, but it doesn't bother her. They're both psycho but I hear they were born that way.

I'm shocked at Blockbuster and no chairs. Aren't there, like, laws against that? *boggles*

All of my pets are chipped with absolutely no problems. If there's any chance yours will ever get loose then I'd encourage you to have the chip implanted.

Both our dogs were chipped when they were wee things, with no side effects. Heidi also had a tattoo in her ear. It's a good idea to do it if you let your dogs roam freely around the yard or whatever. Sam doesn't wear a collar either but I'm so protective of him he never has a chance to escape. :)

PS, good luck with the interview. I totally know how it feels to work in retail with no place to sit down. You deserve a chair.

i can sympathize with you on the whole no chairs thing... I work at McD's *shudder* and for two years I've worked without having a chance to sit down other than my break for eight hour (or longer) shifts.

Right now I have a sprained ankle and they still won't let me have a chair...bastards.

Thanks for asking and getting the information on the chipping so that we could all learn about it.

When I bring Hermione to the states later this summer, I'll want her safe, and I think I remember reading on [livejournal.com profile] okaturaven's LJ a few weeks ago that someone found his dog thanks to the chip he had implanted, only proving to me that they are indeed helpful. I just got home a few hours ago and it's so obvious she missed me (probably as much as I missed her!). She's my sweetie. I would hate to lose her.

Good luck with Dandy. If it really is side-effect-free, I'd recommend you do it, pretty much regardless of price. I know you love him dearly and it would be awful if you were to lose him.

Both my dogs are chipped. I am a preacher for chipping. My friend Danielle had her dog Sam stolen years ago - not chipped and dog is still MIA. The same week Sam was taken there was a report on the news about a dog that was lost for 7 years. The shelter he eventually landed in scanned him and he was chipped. They showed the reunion with the lucky dogs family on the news. I made the appointment for my dog the same day. It never hurts to have as much identification on them as possible. I even have extra collars for them with my parents contact info when we go to their house. You can never be too safe.

I've never encountered any side effect but I've only had experience with dogs. But I'm sure the vet can fill you in on the details.

I feel an intense desire to leave work to go home and hug my dogs!

I had chips put in both of my dogs when they were neutered. They're now
2 1/2 yrs. and they've never had a problem, seemed to mind at all or had any side effects. When I found out that my vet has had all of his pets get them I figured it was safe - and now I have peace of mind that I didn't have before.
