It really is the little things that get you. Literally.
Every month I give myself a B12 shot. No big deal. It's just something I have to do and have done for a long time. It comes in a bottle with a bunch of doses and when it expires I get a new bottle. I just got a refill. Instead of a single bottle it came in tiny bottles, each one dose. That's 1ml. Do you have any idea how small a 1ml bottle is? The needles on the syringes I use are 1 inch long. They are longer than the tiny bottles. So I had to somehow hold this minute bottle and get only a small part of the needle into the bottle and extract all of the medication into the syringe. All without dropping anything. I hope I can specify next time that I don't want these tiny bottles again.

It's no big deal. I do it in the thigh (where I have planty of padding!) and you really can't even feel it. When I first was diagnosed I used to go to the doctor's office for the shot but after a few months that got old and I took them up on their offer to show me how to do it myself.

I've worked in a pharmacy for 7 years... getting the big bottle every time shouldn't be a problem.. Don't let them tell you otherwise..
Do you get a new rx every month or is it something you refill?? Which ever, I would suggest filling it a couple days early next month, that way they have plenty of time to order it for you if it's not in stock.

Thanks very much, I'll insist then. I have two more of these tiny bottles but then I'll make sure to get the bigger bottle. This really is a pain to deal with.

My only experience w/B12 shots: I used to have an ancient doctor who gave me one every time I went to see him for anything. He was way old-school, and just thought everyone needed them. Of course, after the shot, he needed to find the smelling salts...I learned never to watch a needle go into me, especially when having blood drawn.

I think you can only get a prescription for it in the injectable form. I can't get it from food (my body wont absorb it) so I have to have the shots. Otherwise all sorts of nasty side effects can happen. Not a problem though as long as I remember my once a month shot.
