Probably it's best to avoid my mother's table when trying to watch your weight.
quinn: What are you making?
quinnmom: Oh, just leftovers
Dinner:
Foccaccia with a topping of tomatoes, onions, olives, white beans and basil dressed with olive oil and balsamic
Salad
Pasta with her amazing sauce (sauce came out of the freezer, I think that is what qualified this as 'leftovers')
Arancini
oh, and for dessert? Tiramisu.
You can imagine what it's like when she's cooking for a special occasion.

That kind of reminds me of my mom. I remember I was having a friend over for dinner one night and my mom was saying how she didn't feel like making anything special so she made broccoli quiche, pasta and salad. And then she made apple cobbler for dessert. My friend thought it was funny because she said when her mom doesn't feel like making anything special, they order pizza!

lol! My dad doesn't like to go out to dinner because he says there is no place with better food than his own dining room. And he eats at famous places in Manhattan all the time.

Well, that's a wonderful compliment to your mom's cooking! :o)

Catholic Italian?
Catholic French. But in our neighborhood when I was growing up all the moms were stay at home moms. They were from Armenia, Greece, Belgium, Florence and Sicily. And they all cooked together and shared food and recipes. It was a wonderful way to grow up :-)

She uses Kahlua in her Tiramisu instead of Madeira. It's great.

I am fully prepared to come to dinner. Other people's moms are usually nuts about me and I come bringing my own a kick ass bracciole:))
