I'd like to point out two photographs that appeared on the web today and both of which I think are important and which made me happy.

You might be wondering why this is an important photo, beyond the fact that it's well taken and that it features excellent art. It's because the man shown third from the right with his hands behind his back is the President of the United States. That's right, this is a photo of the POTUS on a private trip to a museum. Thank God after so many years of a president who thought culture was snobbish and the arts were a waste of time and money. This photo makes me want to cry with joy.

The other one is the cover I posted earlier of Adam Lambert on Rolling Stone. Why is it important? Take a look, it is totally framed, posed and shot to scream "sex! I am sexy! Not only am I sexy I have sex! I have lots of sex! In fact, I just had sex!!!!" Not an unusual thing for a magazine but when was the last time you saw a gay man shown this way in a mainstream magazine? He's depicted as the furthest [farthest? sp?] thing from the safe, asexual, best friend, gay guys usually get relegated to as possible.
It doesn't matter if you like or dislike Adam or his music, this cover is a giant step in mainstream culture.

So yeah, a good day in photographs.
