This caught my eye because I love those fancy pumpkins but I carved one once using those orange tools and it was a pain in the ass. Or, more accurately, a pain in the wrists, hands, shoulders etc. Anyway, as it happens we have a dremel tool. And the bit they used.
Today I bought myself three small pie pumpkins. I shrunk the three designs I chose down in photoshop (more on that later) and applied them to my pumpkins. I cut out the bottom of the pumpkins and scopped out the insides. Here's where things began to go wrong. I have very little hand or wrist strength and I couldn't really scoop enough of the pumpkin out. So then I set to carving. It actually went fairly well except it took way longer than it should have because my pumpkins were too thick. That little tool just whirred away like mad and pumpkin flew everywhere. I had pumpkin in my hair, on my face, my favourite Roots shirt was totally encrusted. The floor, the counter the cabinets, all covered with pumpkin. After cleaning up the kitchen I had to take a shower and tossed my shirt in the wash. I hope it comes out.
No clue how they will look. I tested them with tea lights and two of them will be good I think. The third, not so much. Here's where I went wrong with that. A classic case of just because you can do something it doesn't mean you should actually do it.
